I sighed as I looked at his side of the bed. I did my morning routine and went to the library. I had my breakfast there and spent the most part of the day there.

I was dozing off when I heard footsteps. Since I woke up today, my senses has been sharp. The footsteps got closer and Jairus came out. He stood in front of the couch and if I didn't know better, I'll say he looked nervous.

"I'm sorry" I shrugged my shoulders.

"It doesn't matter anymore"

"It does. You were trying to help us and we just messed things up"

"It's fine. I shouldn't have asked anyways" he kept quiet after that. I looked up at him and saw him studying my face.

"You look different" I touched my face.

"I do"

"And you smell different"

I perceived my clothes. "I don't smell different but I do feel different. Everything is brighter and louder than usual. That's why I came here to relax"

"Have you told him" I shook my head.

"I haven't seen him since dinner yesterday" he swore under his breath and stood up. I looked up at him and noticed his mood had changed.

"Stay here" he hurried out of the library. I lay back on the couch and tried to fall asleep.

My sleep was interrupted once more by loud shouting and the slamming of a door. I sat up annoyed and Thane came to where I was.

I could smell his woodsy scent but there was also a feminine scent entwined with his own. A strange feeling engulfed me. I wanted to find the owner of that scent and rip the person into shreds.

"Are you okay" I huffed. Like he cared.

"Where have you been?" he shrugged. "You don't get to disappear throughout the night and show up acting like you care"

"You were angry what was I supposed to do. I didn't know how to deal with you"

"Whatever" I grabbed the book from the table and stood up to leave when he grabbed my arms.

"I'm sorry" he pushed his hands through his hair.

I nodded."it's fine"

"Your scent has changed. It's more intoxicating"

"Jairus said the same thing" he muttered.

"How do you feel"

I shrugged "I feel the same. Just that my senses are sharpened" he nodded. His eyes rolled back into his head for a moment and then he took my hands, leading me out of the library and into our room.

He helped me on the bed and there was a knock on the door. He opened the door and Kyros came in.

"I came as quickly as I could"

"Kyros" I said in greeting and he bowed at me. I didn't like that they were now formal with me but I didn't have the energy to correct him.

He checked my eyes but when he brought out a torchlight, I stopped him.

"My eyes will hurt" he nodded.

"Have you been feeling extreme emotions like anger or jealousy" I nodded. "And your senses are heightened" I nodded.

"It's nothing serious. You're about to go into heat. This is your first heat after completing the bond so it'll be different. Alpha you've seen it first hand so it won't be difficult" Thane nodded.

"You'll have to be with her. There will be lots of pain on her part and having sex will create a baby instantly. Having sex will also stop the heat but if you don't want to have sex you'll just have to be around her. It'll ease her pain"
