I better go save the man in stress. I started the car, stopped in front of him, and honked. The idiot managed to break free from that crazy woman and got it the car.

“That bitch broke my nose! Come on, take me to a hospital. A far–away one, so we can stay under the radar.”

“Damn it, Reynold! Why didn’t you follow the plan? You were supposed to wait for Henry and pretend to force yourself on me, he would’ve gone crazy at you, and I would’ve had the perfect opportunity to win him over, playing the fragile victim.”

“Darling, I love getting under my son’s skin, but I’ve had it with this crazy woman for a while now. I wanted to teach her a lesson. I just didn’t expect her to be such a wild lunatic with such heavy hands. Oww…” Reynold groaned as he touched his split lip.

“Because she interfered in my business and got me kicked out of the company.” You could hear the resentment in Reynold’s

voice.

“Well, look at that, she’s tougher than many men, including you!” I had to laugh. I couldn’t deny it, this Melissa was interesting.

“She’s an untamed, rabid dog, that’s what she is!” Reynold said furiously.

“Still, you should have followed the plan.” I was pretty pissed at him.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever. We’ll come back and follow your teenage scheme another day. Now come on, take me to a hospital.”

But I couldn’t get over it. It would have been perfect. Reynold would grab me in the parking lot supposedly by force, as he loves to do with girls who reject him, Henry would see it and couldn’t resist defending me from daddy’s clutches – one thing I’m sure of, he hates his father more than anything in the world. Then he’d save me, and I’d have the chance to seduce him, playing the fragile and defenseless girl. He wouldn’t resist my charm.

But this asshole Reynold had to ruin everything. As he always does, actually. It wasn’t the first time he screwed up my plans. When I left Henry to be with him, I didn’t imagine he’d be useless and leave all the assets and the company to Henry. He said he had no choice because this Heidi woman pressured him with who knows what. But the thing is, besides limiting my life to an allowance that barely covered the luxurious lifestyle I deserved, he still had plenty of time to be a pain in my ass. And hewas annoying, so annoying, unbearable. He thought he was hot stuff, but he was just an annoying old man who was terrible in bed and lazy to boot. I only managed to stay with him for a year, and I endured that long only because he’d find some sluts to fool around with and give me some peace.

I was here, putting up with this nuisance again, but only because it wasconvenient for me. As soon Alexander will have the job done and he’ll be pushing up daisies!

We arrived at the hospital, and luckily, a nurse I knew was on duty talked to her, slipped her some cash, and she put Reynold in a comer to be treated without registering him and went to call the doctor. We were waiting there in the emergency room, where the beds were separated by curtains on the sides, but the front one was open.

“Nick! Nick! Close the curtain quickly!” Reynold ducked his head and looked at me.

“Close it yourself!” I said, with no intention of getting up from my chair in the corner.

“Just close the damn thing, Nicole. That woman knows me!”

“What woman?” I looked around and saw three women nearby.

“The tall brunette with a bun. She’s Samantha’s mother.”

“Samantha? Romulus’s Samantha?” Just my luck!

“Yeah, Samantha – Romulus’s, Henry’s, and mine.” Reynold tried to hide his face.

“Stay put, old man, wait for the doctor. I’ll be right back.” I walked out, pulling the curtain closed.

“Where are you going?” I heard Reynold ask as I closed the curtain, but I ignored him.

“Excuse me,” I approached the nurse who was talking to the homewrecker’s mother. “Could you tell me where I can get some coffee around here?”

“There’s a cafeteria on the third floor, you can take the elevator over there,” the nurse pointed.

“I’m heading there myself if you’d like to join me,” the mother of the homewrecker offered. She was helpful, which made my job easier. I didn’t even need to make up an excuse to start a conversation.

“Oh, yes, please,” I put on my most innocent face. “I get so lost in hospitals, everything’s so white, all the corridors look the

same.”

“You’re right, they should have some color on the walls, shouldn’t they?” She smiled at me, being very kind. Ugh! I hated kind people, they’re all weak.

“That would be so much better,” I smiled. “Do you work here?”

“No, but I come here often. I’m a pharmaceutical representative.”

“Oh, how interesting. You know, I’m here with my father, he fell and broke his nose, can you believe it?”

“Poor thing! But other than his nose, is he okay?”

“Yes, he is. He’ll be fine,” I smiled. “I’ve been spending time with him since I lost my job, but things are kind of tough.”
