My bachelorette party was the most fun event I’d ever been to, despite the snake incident. Erica and Emilia had really outdone themselves. However, it wasn’t as enjoyable for Henry, who was tense and worried when he came to pick me up

At home, he told me about his suspicion that Isabella had sent the snake, and I was surprised – I hadn’t thought that insufferable woman would be so brazen.

We spent Sunday at home, resting and just enjoying each other’s company. It was nice to have that peaceful moment with him. knowing the upcoming week would be hectic with wedding preparations, even though everything was already set.

This week, I needed to get ahead with all my work since I’d be on my honeymoon with Henry the following week. Starting Thursday, I wouldn’t be working as I’d be at the beach house overseeing all the wedding setup. I was so busy that during lunch, I just had a quick snack while working and turned Manu away when she came for afternoon coffee.

Then my phone started ringing. I looked at the screen and recognized Romulus’s number, so I decided to ignore it. I’d done the same on Saturday, and he’d given up bothering me for the weekend. Maybe if I kept ignoring his calls, he’d stop harassing me? But he persisted, calling about five times before finally stopping. I breathed a sigh of relief, as it was already getting on my

nerves.

But shortly after, my phone rang again. I was considering turning it off, but when I checked the screen, it was my mother. I’d answer quickly and get back to work.

“Hi, Mom! Everything okay?” I answered, still focusing on the spreadsheet in front of me.

“Little Sam, little Sam. When will you learn to answer when I call?” I heard that voice and felt a shiver of fear run through my body.

“Romulus, what are you doing with my mother’s phone?” I asked nervously.

“Little Sam, you should be asking what I’m going to do with your annoying mother.” Romulus laughed.

“Romulus, don’t touch my mother, this is between you and me.”

“It was, little Sam, but you decided to make things difficult and put lots of people between us. So right now, this is between you, me, and your mommy. An annoying one, actually. She never liked me, did she, little Sam? And I never liked her.” That sounded like a threat, and I didn’t like it.

“Romulus, please, leave my mother alone!” I felt fear taking over my entire body.

“Little Samantha, there’s only one way I’ll leave your dear mommy alone – if you come here to get her. Then, maybe I’ll let her go in one piece, because she’s still in one piece now, but I don’t know how long I can keep her that way.” Romulus spoke with irony and nonchalance.

“Romulus, what do you want?” I asked, but I knew what he wanted

“Don’t play dumb, little Samantha! I want you. So, you’re going to leave that little job of yours right now, without that security guard who’s always glued to you, get in a taxi, and come meet me. Oh, and without telling anyone, of course!” Romulus seemed happy with what he wanted, seemed to take pleasure in intimidating me.

“Romulus, you’re crazy! Let my mother go and leave me alone.” Tears were already falling from my eyes.

“I’m crazy about you, little Samantha!” Romulus laughed. “You have half an hour to get here, or your mommy’s going to meet Jesus.”

“Romulus, don’t do anything to my mother.” I begged.

“That depends entirely on you.”

“Let me talk to her.”

“Of course, my love, when you get here, I’ll let you talk to her. But now you better run, your time starts now and you only have half an hour, tick tock. I’ll send you a message with the address, hurry up, tick tock.” Romulus hung up the phone laughing before I could say anything.

What was I going to do? Romulus was out of his mind. I should have answered his call before, at least the police would have intercepted the call and maybe I would have had some luck, but now I was on my own. And I had to go meet him – he was capable of killing my mother just to make me suffer.

After thinking for a bit – I didn’t have much time the message with the address arrived, and I had to hurry since it wasn’t very close. There was no other way, I had to go alone, as he ordered. I tried to calm myself down and called my security guard; I needed to get rid of him.

“Do you need me, Miss Samantha?” Michael entered my office.

“Yes, Michael, would you mind getting me some food? I’m hungry, but I’m swamped with work.” I asked as if everything was

fine.
