Manuela’s POV

Flavian gently ran his hands along my back, as if his thoughts were somewhere far away. Suddenly, he let out a heavy breath, as if he had been holding it for a long time.

"Now, we're going to put your treasure in the safe, and then we'll get ready. We have a birthday dinner that I promise will be very special." Flavian kissed my hair and spoke with complete calmness.

"The best birthday ever! With the most handsome boyfriend! I'm so excited." I stood up and put a smile on my face because this man deserved all my smiles. "You have a safe here?"

"Yes, I had it installed right after I moved in. Come on, I'll show you." He helped me grab the boxes, and we went to the walk-in closet.

There was a false panel behind one of the closet niches. He touched the wood, which opened to reveal a rather large safe behind it. He entered the code and opened the door. Inside were two guns and a considerable amount of cash, along with some watches and other jewelry boxes.

"Look, little one, this watch was a gift from my grandfather. He used to say that I needed to control time and not let time control me, that I should be the master of my destiny." He smiled; it was an expensive watch; I knew the brand. "Grandfathers are the best."

"It's beautiful!" I looked at the watch carefully. It was definitely a white gold piece.

"Put your treasure in there. Monday morning we'll take it to the bank." Flavian spoke and stepped back, looking at the watch. "I think I'll wear this watch today. It's a special day."

I smiled because he thought my birthday was special enough for him to wear something so important and expensive. After I stored everything, he closed the safe again and repeated the password for me.

I decided not to think about my mother anymore; it made me sad. I resolved to enjoy the rest of my happy birthday with my big guy. He would take me to dinner, and we would have one of those nights.

Flavian went to get ready in the other room to give me more space; he was thoughtful in everything. When I was ready, I barely recognized myself in the mirror. I had put on the dress Flavian had given me; it was a bright vivid red in a luxurious fabric that fit perfectly. It was strapless, with a bow at the bust, fitted at the waist, and the skirt, which fell just above the knees, flared out in an A-line. It looked perfect and sophisticated.

It seemed like he, my father, my brother, and Olivia had coordinated their gifts. The handbag I received was a black clutch, and the black shoes had that wonderful red sole. I put on the ruby bracelet my father gave me and a ruby ring he had given me a year before.

I found Flavian in the living room, looking out the window, wearing a perfect black suit. He was handsome and imposing. I called out to him, and when he turned to face me, he opened his mouth to speak but simply stood there staring at me for a minute with his mouth open. It was as if he had forgotten how to form words.

"My goodness, Manu! You look stunning! The most beautiful woman I have ever seen," Flavian finally said.

"I love this dress!" I twirled around. "You have great taste, big guy."
