Chapter 36 

“Eat,” Chester said. 

Angelina nodded. 

“Chester, can I ask you something?” Rosalie finally spoke to Chester directly. 

“What is it?” 

“Megan and I are planning to work with Isadora, and we want to develop a mini–program. Could you help us with it?” 

“A mini–program?” 

“Yes, we want to create one named after the studio. I’ve thought about its functionality, but I’m not sure how difficult it would be.” 

Rosalind started talking to Chester, who responded casually. Her soft voice and gentle demeanor made it hard to ignore her, and her beauty left Angelina in a daze. 

It wasn’t just men–Rosalind’s charm could mesmerize women too. She had the angelic beauty of a goddess and the seductive allure of a siren, all wrapped in one person. 

“Am I too dumb, Chester?” 

“No, you just don’t understand it yet. You’ll get it in time.” 

“Thank you.” 

After dinner, Megan and Rosalind stayed for desserts before Isadora saw them downstairs. 

“See you tomorrow,” Isadora said. 

“Your family is so nice, Isadora,” Rosalind said. 

“Really? Then come over more often.” 

Rosalind smiled and nodded. “Um, does Chester not like me very much?” 

“Not at all. My brother is indifferent to everyone.” 

“Rosalind, Chester’s a good person. He’s the same way even with Alexander and the others,” Megan uttered. 

Rosalind didn’t say anything further. “Okay, Isadora See you tomorrow.” 

“Bye, take care.” 

Upstairs, Emily brought some fruit to Angelina, but she wasn’t hungry. Sitting on the couch,

Angelina felt a bit down. 

Just then, Chester received a phone call. 

“Hello?” 

“It’s me, Rosalind. I’d like to discuss the mini–program further with you. Could we keep in contact? This is my number.” 

“Sure, I’ll save it.” 

“Angelina, your due date’s tomorrow, right?” asked Emily. 

“Yes.”

“Gerald, you shouldn’t go to work tomorrow. Everyone needs to stay home just in case. 

After hanging up, Chester noticed Angelina looking at him. As he walked over, Angelina smiled and said, “There’s no need for that. The due date doesn’t guarantee anything. Some 

babies are born a week late.” 

“Dad can go to work as usual, and Isadora can focus on her work. I’ll stay home with Angie,” 

said Chester. 

Angelina’s smile froze. “I’m going to bed now.” 

Angelina had just gotten into bed when she saw Chester follow her into the room. 

“Don’t be worried. I-” 

“I’ll stand by what I said,” Angelina interrupted. “We can both be responsible for the child. But your life is yours, and mine is mine. We’ll each handle our own. If I meet the right person, I’ll pursue him freely, and so can you.” 

Chester was silent for a while before asking, “Is it Louis?” 

Angelina sat up, astonished. How could he have the nerve to play the victim? 

She forced a smile. “Even if it’s not Louis, it could be someone else. I don’t like you anymore. 

Go ahead and pursue Rosalind. I think she likes you quite a bit.” 

Chester thought back. His interaction with Rosalind earlier had been limited to polite conversation, and she had done most of the talking. 

“Are you jealous again?” 

“Why would I be?” Angelina retorted. But for some reason, she felt like crying. 

She knew the storyline and understood she couldn’t compete with the female lead. Her role was clear–give birth to the baby, hope the male lead would bounce back and share some of his wealth, and then live her own prosperous life
