Freya
I pulled back the moment his lips touched mine. Titus looked at me with a questioning glance towards me. The moment he was about to kiss me, I was reminded of what the old man had said at college. Two love?
I was surprised myself, why was I even bothering to think about what a nut job like him said. My mate wanted me, he wanted to kiss me and I was denying him his right. Titus was waiting for me, I wanted to kiss him but can't understand what was holding me back.
"What happened?" Titus asked me.
"I don't think it's right," I gave a petty excuse.
"I am your mate, we will be getting married soon," Titus looked hurt at my excuse.
I cursed myself for hurting my mate. His mention of marriage dipped my stomach. How can I marry him, when there was my second mate somewhere out there in the world. I needed to know who he was before I make any decision. I can't choose Titus before even meeting him.
"There is something you need to know," I told Titus.
I thought of telling him the truth before he found out from anyone else. There was no use hiding it. Titus will find out one way or another. I needed to tell him the truth myself. He was my mate and he deserved to know the truth.
"Titus, I don't have a wolf," I told him shutting my eyes.
There was silence, Titus didn't even move. His arms were still wrapped around my waist. I opened my eyes to look at him and found him staring at me in disbelief, "How is that possible? You are the firstborn of an Alpha, the Alpha blood in you is supposed to be the strongest," Titus looked conflicted.
"It is the truth, Titus. I couldn't shift when I turned eighteen and I can't even sense or connect to my wolf," I said.
Titus looked like he was in deep thoughts, I wanted to ask him if he had a problem with me not having a wolf? He shouldn't right? He was my mate, we were supposed to be together forever.
"Are you worried that I don't have a wolf?" I asked mustering courage.
"I don't want to lie to you Freya, yes, I am worried because you are supposed to be the future Luna of my pack. Without a wolf, you are no better than a human, "Titus replied honestly.
I can't deny that his words didn't hurt me. Though he was right, I still was expecting him to comfort me that it didn't matter to him if I had a wolf or not. There were supposed to be many werewolves who had human mates.
I pulled away from Titus his hands dropped from around my waist and I stepped back from him. I had never thought that my mate won't be any different from the others. Like people pitied me for not having a wolf, my mate thought me to be lower than him.
"Freya," Titus called.
"Please don't, Titus," I took a few more steps back from him.
Titus stalked me, I turned and started running towards the door which led inside and Titus followed me. He caught up on me before I could reach the door. He slid his arms around my waist and pulled me until my back was flushed against him.
"Freya, listen to me. I didn't mean what I said, "Titus buried his face in my hair and started taking deep breaths.
"Did I tell you that you smell like, lavender?" Titus asked.
No one had ever told me that I smelled like lavender. This was the first time someone said it to me. Maybe this was some mate thing too, that I smelled different to my mate.
"I don't care if you have a wolf or not, Freya, because all I ever wanted was a mate. But I won't lie to you that my pack members might have a problem with it, "Titus was whispering gently in my ears.
"Will you reject me if your pack members don't accept me?" I asked dreading.
"So, is your wolf black?" I asked him again.
"Let me see, hmm, it could be. Would you like to see it?" Titus asked.
"Can I?" I asked getting excited.
The idea of an Alpha wolf belonging completely to me was thrilling. I felt a sudden urge to see his wolf. I don't know why but I don't think I could wait anymore to have a look at his wolf.
Titus smiled and started unbuttoning his jacket. He got rid of his clothes until he was just in his boxers. I was trying hard to tear my eyes away from his glorious body. His front and back were full of scars, an indication of how strong he was. I wonder where he would have gotten all those scars.
My eyes traveled his body from head to toe and then back again till our eyes met. Titus was watching my curios expression in amusement. I felt my face getting heated under his gaze, him being naked apart from the boxers he was wearing made me blush.
"Stop looking at me like that, I can't guarantee that my wolf won't want to mark you right at this moment," Titus warned me.
I snapped my eyes away from him immediately. I could see that he was struggling hard to stop his wolf from getting control. His eyes were changing from blue to black back and forth.
Alpha werewolves were supposed to be the most possessive and territorial from all the wolves. Their wolves wanted to mark their mates from the moment they found them.
I saw him tugging at the hem of his boxers and turned around in embarrassment from him.
Though I liked Titus, I don't think I was ready to see him naked so soon. I heard bones snapping behind my back. I held my breath until I was sure that he had shifter completely. I was dying of curiosity to find out the color of his wolf.
I turned when I heard the heavy breathing of a wolf behind my back. There was his wolf, taller than my human form, and broader than any wolf I had seen. The color of his wolf surprised me, I hadn't expected him to be this color.
