Apprehended By My Mate novel Chapter 16

Everything he has said to me has been a lie. The love I felt for him is starting to fade and my punishments increase daily. There is some sick part of me that still clings to the idea that he still loves me and that I love him. My wolf and I are becoming weaker by the second since Derek started taking away the necessities that I need to live.

I am currently in the kitchen cooking when the door slams shut announcing that Derek is home. I keep on cooking and smile when he comes in.

"How was school today?" I said with my back turned to him. I walk to the cupboard to get some salt when my body is slammed against the door.

"What did I say about talking without my permission?" I whimper and my stomach digs into the door handles.

"Only to talk when you allow it or ask a question." That earns me a punch to my lower back causing me to bow in pain.

"That's right!" he sneers into my ear than kisses me lovingly on the cheek. I turn around to see him smiling at me which cause me to smile in return even though I am in pain. It is times like this that I become most confused. He treats me like this and yet I still some part of me loves him. I keep smiling at him until I feel a slap across my face causing my head to whip to the side from impact.

"I am so sorry Clare. I love you but you need to learn your place as my mate. Soon we will have children and they too will learn their place." He grabs me by the hair and I start to struggle as he takes me towards the basement.

"No please don't take me there." I struggle against him thrashing around the place as fear and desperation become my main focus.

"I told you not to talk you slut." He yells as he brings me closer to our destination. "You will stay here until you can learn to keep your mouth shut." He opens the door throwing me in making me fall down the stairs.

"Remember Clare I do this because I love you." He shuts the door leaving me in total darkness. He left me there for 3 weeks with barley any food or water. By the time I came I learnt my lesson don't talk to anyone because it lead to pain.

"Clare, breath." Conner whispers still holding onto my hand not understanding that it is his contact causing me to panic.

"Ha-hand." I choke out. It takes Conner a seconds before my hand if free and I can feel the panic subside and my lungs re-open back up allowing me to get precious air into my system. My hand is still shaking as I place it in my lap clenching and unclenching it trying to get the feeling back into it. It takes a few more minutes before I can get control of my own body. There is still the slightest tremor in my hand from the feeling of Conner touching it.

"I am sorry." He whispers and I get my gaze on my lap ashamed that I cannot even allow my on mate to touch me.

"No. It's my fault." The silence between us has become uncomfortable that neither of us really know what to say.

"I-" He goes to say something but thinks better of it making us fall into more uncomfortable silence. I lift my gaze from my lap and look at Conner to see him with a confused expression across his face.
