Apprehended By My Mate novel Chapter 28

"What the hell is that?" I yell at the doctor who is coming closer.

"It is a sedative to calm her down." I look back at Clare and start shaking her. She finally looks up at me as I yell her name but I know she cannot hear a darn thing I am saying. I nod to the doctor who is waiting for my permission and I watch as she starts to calm down. Before she blacks out she says a word that makes my stomach churn.

"Derek." Both Felix and I turn to each wondering what the hell is wrong with her. The doctors take her into a room and I am torn about whether to stay or go with her. Ivy can see my confliction and stands up with Liam.

"You stay here Conner. I will sit with Clare." She smiles and leaves the room with a sleeping Liam. I face Felix and feel like I have aged one too many years in over the last few weeks. I feel wet tears roll down my face as the events of the last few hours start to catch up with me.

"They are both going to be fine Conner." I know he is using is Alpha power to try and calm me down. I am grateful for it, I just wish there was something I could do. I have never felt so useless in my whole entire life. I thought having a mate made everything easier but I can see that idea was wrong. I love both Clare and Grace and wouldn't trade them for the world but I wish I could just fast forward to the stage where I can touch Clare without her flinching, where I can hold her at night, where we can have a family full of laughter and kids. I run my fingers through my hair frustrated at myself. A doctor comes out and I jump to my feet thinking they have news about Grace.

"Alpha Felix, Beta, I have some news on the little girl Grace." The doctors takes off his glasses and pinches the bridge of his nose causing my wolf and I to become nervous.

"Come to my office and we can talk." We both follow the doctor and we sit on the couch while he sits across from us.

"How is she? Is she ok?" I ask the moment he sits down.

"No way, no way in hell is that sick bastard ever going near Clare or Grace ever again, find another way because that is never going to happen." Felix puts a hand on my arm and I sit back down fuming that the doctor would even think that. He saw the state Clare was in when she arrived. Nope not ever going to happen. If I ever run into that bastard-

"Beta calm down there is another way. As you and Clare are mates you share a bond with Grace as well. I am sure you are able to feel it. If you were to mark Grace not only would that increase you bond with her and her mother but also because of your beta power it will save her." The moment he said save her my eyes turn black as my wolf takes over.

"I thought you said she was going to be fine, save her that would incline that she was dying!" I growl ready to attack the doctor. He looks down at the ground with such a sad expression and that does it. I go to lunge but I am tackled to the ground my Felix who is growling at me.
