I remember going to see her after the first week and the moment I saw her I broke down into tears. Clare cried with me telling me how sorry she was but I could hear how lifeless her voice sounded and the faraway look that her eyes held. It was like she wasn't even with us.

Grace and I visited her every day and each day I could see the improvement she was making. I remember coming in the second week with Grace when she called me Daddy. I was scared to see Clare's reaction but I was surprised when she started crying thanking me over and over again.

Each day Clare and I would sit together and spend hours on end talking about everything and nothing at the same time. She opened up to me a little more about herself and a little about her old life but she hasn't said much about her and Derek.

The doctors keep me updated every week on how she is progressing and she gets better each week. They don't tell me too much but enough to know what is going on with Clare. They diagnosed her with depression, anxiety, an eating disorder and PTSD among other things.

They explained to me where her anxiety and panic attacks come from because they all stem from her PTSD. The doctors told me it explained why she was always alert and always jumped or flinched when someone came close to her without her knowledge.

During the first few weeks there would be days where she would be amazing and other days were I wasn't allowed to see her at all. The days I wasn't allowed to see her I spent my day pacing around the place giving everyone around me headaches that at one stage Felix went all Alpha on me telling me to leave and not to come back until the next day.

Today I woke up next to Grace in a good mood. The doctors were doing their final evaluation on Clare and she might be able to come back home. Home to Grace and I. I still haven't told her how I feel yet but I am waiting for the right time to do so.

I get Grace dressed as she talks to me in her own baby language. It is amazing how fast she is growing in such a short amount of time. I had to take her to her monthly check up the other day and the doctor was impressed by how well she is adjusting to everything around her. I smile planting a kiss on her forehead and wipe the small amount of drool coming off her face.

"We get to see Mommy today." She squeals and claps her hands together.

"Momma, Home?" She ask and I chuckling picking her up.

"She was good like every other night." I watch as Grace happily chats away with Clare and I know that she misses not being able to see her mum every day. Grace is a good girl but sometimes she puts up a good fight when she doesn't get her way. I somehow always give into whatever she wants when she gives me those hard to resist bambi eyes and starts to pout.

"You might get released today." I say and I watch as Clare frowns. I wish I knew what she was feeling so I would somehow know how to help her.

"That's good, but I am scared." I sigh and climb into bed with her pulling her to my chest.

"It will be fine. I will be there every step of the way. I will be the first person you see when you wake up and the last person you see before you go to sleep. I will be strong for you if you ever feel like you are falling." I hear her sigh and I can feel her soft lips kiss my chest through my shirt.
