Apprehended By My Mate novel Chapter 55

"You have done so much for me Conner." Over the last month Clare and I have become closer. She still sometimes flinches away from me but she is much better. There is a knock at the door and I watch as both Karen and Lucy come into the room with smiles.

They come around the same time every day to get Grace giving Clare and me some time to ourselves.

"Hey Clare. Heard today might be the big day." Lucy smiles brining in another bunch of flowers.

"Hey Grace." Karen picks up Grace who will happily chat with anyone who will listen. "Is that right well I think Liam wants to play with you today." I watch as the little girls eyes bright up as she becomes a bundle of energy in Karen's arms.

"We better get going before this little girl dies of excitement. Say goodbye Grace." Karen put Grace back on the bed with Clare and I where she gives both of us a hug.

"Bwe Momma and Dadda" She kisses us both before Lucy picks her up running out of the room. Even after a month of Grace call me Dad I still cannot get used to it, and I break out into a massive grin every time she does.

After Karen and Lucy leave with Grace for her play date with Liam, Clare and I settle in watching a movie together. Half way through the doctor comes in for her evaluation and I have to leave the room.

I stay around the hospital as I patiently wait for the doctors results. After an hour of waiting the doctor comes out with Clare tailing behind her.

"Hello Conner. I have good news. Clare can come home today. However I want to see her twice a week. I need you to fill out some forms evolving her release and her medication. So if you join me in my office then we can get that done." The doctor smiles and leaves giving us some time to ourselves. I have a huge smile on my face and I am kind of shocked when Clare runs straight into my arms kissing me softly on the lip.

"I get to go home." She freezes up for a second and I can see her coming to terms with what she just said. "Home." She repeats as I smile at her softly.

"Yes Clare, home."

One thing I was scared about coming back into the world was that everything would change. However walking through the pack house I see that everything is the same as I left it. When we get back to the pack house I am surprised to see everyone there welcoming me home. Home, there is that word again that sounds so foreign and almost unbelievable.

"It is good to have you home Clare." Alpha Felix comes up to me. I still keep my head down but instead of freaking out I focus on my breathing and try to remember that these people are not like Derek.

"Thankyou Alpha, I am glad to be back home." I look up at Conner who still has a huge grin on his face.

"Clare, Felix will do." I look up at him taking another deep breath giving him a smile and a nod of my head.

"Let's all stop standing around and get something to eat." Ivy says and everyone moves grabbing food and making their way outside. I let out a sigh thinking that wasn't so bad. It could have been so much worse but it wasn't. I flinch when I feel Conner place his hand on my shoulder because I wasn't expecting it.
