"Hey you ok?" I think for a second before answering. My doctors told me to always think about whether I am ok or not before answering.
"Fine, just a little overwhelming." The doctor told me that the first few days out of hospital will be over whelming but I just need to find a way to cope.
"Ok, let's go and get some food." Conner leads me outside and grabs both of us a plate of food. Conner tells me to sit down instead I go other to where, Grace, Liam and Lucy are playing.
I watch all three play knowing that I could have missed out on all of this. I keep watching and I stand up straighter when I watch Grace stand up on her own two feet. She wobbles on them looking down in wonder before taking her first wobbly step.
"Conner." I yell as I watch Grace look up towards my voice.
"What wrong." He rushes over towards me and stops when he sees Grace standing all by herself. Grace giggles to herself and takes another step towards Conner and I. Everyone is watching Grace with smiles on their face.
Both Conner and I walk towards her but still leaving a distance for her to walk towards. We both crouch down and I open my arms for Grace to come towards. As she takes another step and my face becomes wet with tears. She takes a few more fast steps before falling into my arms.
I hug her to my chest kissing her head telling her how proud I am of her. Conner has his arms wrapped around me and kisses the side of my head as I wipe my tears of joy. I could have missed this. I didn't realise how much I would miss and I am grateful for everything Conner and the doctors did to save me from myself.
"Uncle Conner did you see that. Grace walked." Liam shouts running over towards us tickling Grace
"She sure did buddy." Conner picks Liam up swinging him around the place. I pick up Grace and walk over to the table where Ivy and Felix are sitting. I take a seat across from them and next to Conner. We all eat lunch as a pack and I listen and join in on occasions to the conversations.
"I remember this one time I was about 5 and the Alpha Jackson was 16. I dressed him up in dresses and did his makeup. We than did a fashion parade together and showed my parents and his. I think they still use the pictures as blackmail today." Everyone around my table is laughing and I chuckle softly to myself.
"Wait, wait, Alpha Jackson as in the Alpha of the Silver shadow pack?" Felix ask and everyone around the table stops laughing and are all looking at me. I feel myself go mute and I can feel an anxiety attack coming along.
After that no one said anything else on the matter and switched over to other conversations. Later on both Conner and I are sitting on the grass across from each other while Grace walks between us getting better each time.
"She will be running around the place soon." Conner smiles and I laugh as Grace keeps falling down becoming frustrated.
"Yeah, she is growing up so fast. I remember when she was first born. That seems like ages ago." I pick her up placing her on her feet as she walks over to Conner.
"You never told me about the day she was born." Grace walks back over to me sitting in my lap as she takes a break.
"It was just me and the wet nurse. Derek knew I was going to give birth that week so he and his buddies decided to go hunting. I remember when my water broke. I was so scared. I had no one there for support, but most of all I was scared what was going happen to my child. I didn't want my child to grow up in the environment I lived, but there was nothing I could do." I look up to Conner who is frowning and picking at the grass.
