"You little devils." We both laugh as Conner picks Grace up throwing her into the air. I pick up the bucket of paint to see some still inside. I smirk to myself as I quickly tip the last of the pink paint over Conner's head. He stops throwing Grace and looks at me with disbelief.
"It slipped." I say innocently wiping more pink paint off my face. He places Grace on the ground and I do the first thing anyone would do. Run. I run towards the house laughing only to stop when I see Felix standing at the door with his arms crossed over his chest. I stop running and Conner runs straight into my back.
"What is all this?" Felix waves his arms around and I look to see a good portion of the backyard covered in pink paint.
"Umm I am sorry." I look down at the floor and slump my shoulders in a submissive position. Conner places his hands on my shoulders giving them a tight squeeze of reassurance.
"Sorry Alpha we were just having fun." Conner looks down and I feel like we have been caught by parents doing something we shouldn't. Both Conner and are not looking at Felix, that we didn't see his lips twitch before turning into a full blown smile.
"Your faces." We hear a thump and we both look up to see Felix clutching on stomach literally rolling on the ground in laughter. Grace chooses that moment to run and jump on Felix covering him in pink paint.
"Grace." I say softly and she looks up at me with such an innocent look on her face. I pick her up laughing softly when I see Felix covered in paint.
"Thankyou Grace." Felix complements as he stand back up.
"We better go and wash up." Conner says leaving behind a pink Felix as he leads us back to our room. I run a bath for Grace stripping her of her clothes. I watch the clear water in the bath become pink as I wash all the pink paint off her body and out of her hair.
"You ready to come out?" I pick up a towel as Conner comes in paint free.
"Here let me do that. You go have a shower in the other room while I get Miss Princess here dressed." I smile at him grabbing my clothes and a towel.
Half an hour. That's how long it took to get all the dried pink paint out of my hair. I came back into our room to find that Conner and Grace were not there. I quickly dried my hair and went down stairs to find them.
"It has nothing to do with the pack but to do with me." We both stand in silence again before I talk.
"Fourteen." I say and I see Ivy turn to me with a confused face. "Fourteen was how old I was when I met Derek. I ran away from him when 0. That's seven years of being told how useless, unworthy, how ugly I was. How no man would ever want me and I should be glad I had him." I start to see understanding flash in her eyes as she begins to see why I wanted to leave.
"Seven years of being completely independent on Derek. I spent a year on the run, that's a year of being dependent, yet he still follows me inside my head, whispering words that are almost as bad as the abuse itself." I tap my head and she places a hand on my shoulder.
"Six of those seven years were filled abuse, physical and emotional. Three of those years filled with rape until I became pregnant and even then the abuse didn't stop. Of those seven years I only left the house three times." My emotions want to escape my body but I hold them in knowing the will break down if they are let them out.
"Clare I didn't- I am so sorry." I look up at her and give her a sad smile.
"It's ok Ivy, there is nothing you can so about it now." I look back towards the playground to see Conner looking at the both of us with a stone face. His fist are clenched and he looks ready to start a fight with whoever will give him a chance.
