"Clare come back to me." Conner's voice somehow finds me in my ocean of memories that are cashing into me.
I try to find my way back to Conner but the memories become just too powerful.
"Look at what you did Clare!" I whimper at the mess that is now lying on the floor.
"I am sorry I didn't mean to." A sharp sting across my face stops me from saying anymore.
"This is all your fault you worthless slut. I should just kill you." My sobs are loud causing Derek to become even angrier.
"Stop crying, this is all your fault." He hits me again and again until I am begging him to stop.
I pull out of the memory for a second before I am sucked into another.
"I told you dinner had to be ready by the time I got home." I am hiding in the corner hoping that his rage won't get to me.
"It is ready. It just needs to be heated up." I plead looking at the beautiful dinner I made for him.
"I don't care. I expect to come home to dinner on the table ready to be eaten." He takes a step over to the pot and picks it up throwing it at the wall. I watch as my beautiful soup splatters all over the wall and runs down onto the floor.
"Look what you made me do." I look at the ground not wanting to see the monster that is in front of me.
"Look at it!" He scream and pulls my hair and drags me over to the mess he made. "Look at the mess you made." He slams my head onto the wall and pain erupts all over my face that I almost pass out.
"I am sorry. I will clean it up." My voice is so quiet that he doesn't even hear me.
"Everything is always your fault Clare." That was the last thing I heard before he knocked me out cold.
My old house with Derek starts to fade and the office comes back into my blurry vision.
"Clare, Clare." I blink a few times as Conner's worried stricken face fades into view.
"Conner?" I question not believing what my eyes are showing me.
"No, no way. No way is Clare ever going back there. As long as that monster and is friends are still there she is not stepping foot in that pack. I don't care that your wife is sick, there is no way Clare is going back." Conner is standing up with his fist clenched.
"Please just listen to me Clare. I promise that you won't even have to see him. You will come straight to our house where you will stay. He will never even know you are there." Conner goes to say something but I stop him.
"Dad I can't ever go back. There are too many memories in the pack. Both good and bad, but mostly bad. I spent a year on the run to get away from Derek, I am sorry, I love you dad but there is no way I am putting myself in his line of sight ever again." I stand up next to Conner and I can see the sad look in his eyes.
"Clare your mother is dying." I shake my head. I know I won't ever be able to go back it is just too painful.
"Dad-"
"Just please think about it Clare. I am leaving at the end of the week. I would love if you could come back and see your mother for one last time." With that my father leaves the room. I sit back down on the couch in a state of shock.
After everything my father learnt he still wants me to go back. Guilt in eating me from the inside out that I cannot go back and see my dying mother.
"Maybe I should go back." Even saying the words makes me feel sick.
