I slowly move my muscles and bite my lip not wanting to make a single sound. The longer I am keep quite the longer Derek and his friends will keep away. I can feel someone touching me sending me into a state of panic.
I open my eyes and start thrashing around screaming. I keep screaming until I can scream no longer. I try to move, but fire spreads across my body causing me to scream out in pain. I see someone I have never met before leaning over me causing me to stop moving and breathing.
"Clare, Clare." The person in front of me keeps repeating my name but fear is shutting me down allowing for me to be vulnerable.
"No, please no more." I try to move again and this time I fight through the pain. I manage to sit up and get out of bed.
"Clare I am not going to hurt you." I don't believe the person as I take in a deep breath screaming the only name that I want with me right know.
"Conner!" I collapse to the floor and scramble back like a mouse trying to hide. I am breathing really fast while my body shakes like I am in the middle of an earthquake. I grab my head blocking out all the noise that is going on around me.
I feel rough large hands touching me and I scream causing them to back away. My throat feels like someone is carving it with a chainsaw. Tears are running down my face as I try to bring myself closer to the wall.
"Clare." Conner's voice breaks through all the sound going on around me. I find myself getting off the floor and trowing myself onto him try to hide my body against his. I sob into my shoulder ignoring the pain as he wraps his arms around me.
I grip his hair into a tight hold and lock my ankles around his waist. I am never letting go of him again. Conner has one hand under my butt keeping me up and the other running soothing circles up and down my back.
"Clare please stop screaming." He ask and it was only then I realised I was still screaming bloody murder. I stop screaming and start sobbing. I can feel Conner moving us until he his gently trying to pry my hands away from his head.
"No, don't let go." I cling to him tighter as I hear him sigh.
"I am not going anywhere Clare. Just let me put you down." I nod and reluctantly let so of Conner slowly. He gently place me on the bed and gets in next to me. I jumps onto him again clinging to his side like a monkey. He wraps his large warm arms around my aching body. My body relaxes and I stop shaking. My mind starts to go to sleep knowing that I am safe in my mate's arms and no trouble will ever come to me again.
When I wake up I can feel Conner's arms wrapped around me. At first I started to freak out that I was back with Derek, but the moment I felt the arms shift and the tingles of the mate bond run through my body I knew I was safe in Conner's arms. I slowly open my eyes ignoring the pain radiating through my body.
"Kurt and Paul are dead while Derek is being put on trial." My body starts shaking softly and Conner pulls more blankets over us, but I am not shaking from the cold. Tears run down my face as relief washes over me that Kurt and Paul are dead.
Conner hears me crying and start thinking something is wrong.
"Are they really dead?" I look up at Conner through my tear streaked face. I can see something in his expression change as he nods his head.
"Yes. They will never touch you again Clare." I keep crying as I feel a weight begin lifted off my shoulders. Even though my body is aching I feel relief, relief that they will never be able to touch me again even if they are imbedded into my soul.
"They are gone." I whisper to myself thinking that this is a dream I am waiting to wake up from. I finally stop crying when there is a knock at the door.
The opens and Mum and Dad come in. the moment I see them I cry and sit up causing me to cry out in pain.
