I started to tremble as I realized that I would never be free of them. They would always have some sort of controll over me, as if I was their puppet.

Then another thought hit me: What if the Crescent Moon pack was exactly like the Mercy pack? I would not be able to survive living like this for long. I had always had the hope that my mate's pack would be different from mine, but if it would turn out that their beliefs and customs were exactly the same, I was not sure how much more I could take.

Dr. Clairence voice was in my head once more, telling me that I should not worry about things I was not sure of. Then my wolf reminded me that I still had my mate and he certainly would not let anyone harm me. Furthermore Levin did not seem like members of the Mercy pack at all, so he or even better the whole Crescent Moon pack had to be different, right?

My mother impatiently tapped her foot, a sign that she was annoyed with me.

She had probably picked up on my anxiety and I instantly tried to take deep breaths in order to get my heart speed back to normal.

"This week side of yours has to disappear, if not...."

Just then I could hear several footsteps returning to where my mother and I were and I breathed a sight of relief as I scented my mate and Silas.

My brother took one look at me and instantly realized that something must had happened. His eyes then sought out my mother who smiled softly at him, as if she had not just threatened me.

Levin immediately placed his hand on the small of my back and I almost sagged into him like a sack of potatoes. Just with him being closer I felt already better.

"Let's head upstairs", Silas told us and I readily took him up on his offer.

Silas took the lead and I was not at all surprised when we all ended up in our attic. In the past Silas had always brought me here to discuss matters that were not supposed to be overheard.

The now strong wind outside and the lack of insulation in the attic made it a perfect spot to have a private conversation. One I intended to have, because I was still very confused what was going on between my brother and our parents and what Silas kept from me.

However, before I could question him, Silas and Levin shot each other a look before Silas started to speak.

"Ray, I'm going to be honest with you. I brought Levin along in order to get you out of here."

Confused as to what my brother meant I looked at my mate.

He sought contact with me and gently linked our fingers together, which calmed my racing heart down a bit.

"But what will happen to you here?", I asked the question that had been on my mind since I had found out Levin was my mate.

Silas smiled at me and calmy replied "Don't worry about it! The less you know the safer you are."

His words did nothing to reassure me or calm me down. My fear for my brother only grew. Silas had to have sensed my anxiety, because he softly grabbed me by my shoulders and looked me deep in the eyes.

"I've got a plan, Ray, trust me."

This was spoken with so much conviction and underlaying power that I just nodded. The power Silas radiated was almost palpable and I knew immediately that something had to have happened in the Alpha training camp in order for Silas to gain it, because my brother had not been this powerful before leaving.

I knew I would not stop worrying, but I trustet Silas. He let go of my shoulders and I turned to Levin.

"What did father want to discuss with you?", I asked him.

A look of pure horror appeared briefly in his eyes, but before I could act on it he covered it and replied "He just wanted to talk about a treaty, but I told him that I had to talk with my dad about it."
