What Happens in Chapter 40 – From the Book The Brutal Alpha's Tender Daughter

Dive into Chapter 40, a pivotal chapter in The Brutal Alpha's Tender Daughter, written by Mamie Albert. This section features emotional turning points, key character decisions, and the kind of storytelling that defines great Internet fiction.

"She had the palest green eyes I've ever seen.", Levke said and something passed between her and her mate.

"There was a witch at our fifth birthday?", Levin wanted to know and Lennart nodded his head.

"She appeared out of nowhere, alarming everybody, but she convinced us that she meant no harm. Apparently she was one of the greatest witches to that time.", Lennard stopped and seemed somewhere else with his thoughts, "Anyway she told us that when Nathan would become Alpha he would lead the strongest pack and would have the most territory. And then she vanished again into thin air. A week after......Nathan was kidnapped."

"We tried to find her, but there was no way. Not even other witches could track her down.", Levke whispered brokenly.

"We thought that the Mercy pack may have had something to do with Nathan's kidnapping, because your father is a power hungry man and he wouldn't stand back when he knew that there would be someone who was going to be a threat to his pack and territory.", Lennart continued to explain.

"We had just accepted an ex-Mercy pack member into our pack and of course everybody talked about the witch and her prophecy, so there could be a chance that Hector heard about it as soon as the witch had left, but there was never proof.", Levke told us.

There was an ex Mercy pack member here? My eyes widened just thinking about what must had happened that my father "only" exiled him. My father had never been this merciful.

"So maybe someone made sure that the witch could not be found.", Oliver disruppted the silence and pointed at the eyeball again.

"What makes you think that?", Silas asked curiously.

"My sister is a witch, so I overhear lots of witch stuff.", Oliver explained.

A knock could then be heard.

"Enter.", Lennart said and his Beta, Oliver's father, entered.

"Sorry to interrupt you Alpha, but the witch Celeste has arrived."

Lennart nodded his head in thanks, then looked at all of us and said, "Maybe she can tell us more about the eyeball."

The witch Celeste was not how I pictured witches to look like. I had honestly never seen a witch before only heard or read stories about them, but I had not imagined them to look this colourful.

I remembered watching The Hunger Games with Melina one night and the inhabitants of the Capitol looked exactly like Celeste, or she like them?

There were a lot of peacock feathers in her long pink hair which made her almost white skin stand out even more.

I was so distracted by her appearance that I could not focus on whatever she was doing.

Levin's gaze found mind and I could see the hopelesness reflect in his eyes as well.

Lennart and Levke expressed their thanks to Celeste and then usherd us all into the kitchen to eat.

Due to the kitchen being too small for all of us to eat we took a seat in the dining room. I had not realized how hungry I was, but when my bowl full of chili was gone, my stomach demanded more.

When I returned from the kitchen with my second serving I heard Levin's voice, "I think we shouldn't hold the mating ceremony today."

Just as I was about to enter the dining room again, Oliver's voice made me freeze. "You're right, it doesn't seem right, because of Sophia."

I heard mumbled consent and tears gathered in my eyes, because I did not understand, what I had done to make them think that that was the right decision.

"I also think we should wait.", Milena said softly and almost instantly Silas responded, "Yes."

Tears were now running down my cheeks, because how could all of them think that I could not handle their happiness?

I thought that I had made a lot of progress over the years and especially here in the Crescent Moon pack. I felt more emotional strong and happy than I ever could remember. My panic attacks had lessened too and even though there were situations that still overwhelmed me I had been certain that I handled them better now. Even Dr. Clairence had told me repeatedly how this new environment and my new friends were good for me. She had praised me for my new found bravery to speek my mind and we had even reduced my drugs.
