"Are you up to seeing the eyeball?", I asked her before I could think further about it and she looked surprised at me.
I wanted to roll my eyes at myself, because there was just no way someone would be interested in seeing that.
"Sure!", she happily replied and turned around to march out of the kitchen.
"It's in the Alpha's office right?" Sia had turned around again and I mentally shook myself to get out of my frozen state and followed her.
"So you just need to touch someone in order to see into their mind?"
Sia giggled and said, "I wish it would be that easy, but it always depends on the person and how strong their mental block is."
"Does that mean my mental block is weak?"
Sia shook her head. "Definitely not, I just think I caught you at an emotional time."
With her answer I knew that she had probably also seen my outburst and my cheeks grew scarlet.
Sia however did not comment on it and I found myself liking her more and more.
When we arrived at Lennart's office I knocked, but when no "Enter" came I just turned the door knob and let ourselves in. If I would not be so curious if Sia could actually help us finding Daria and therefore Nathan, I probably would have been too scared of the consequences when entering Lennart's office without his permission.
The eyeball was not on his desk anymore, but I saw the little box in which Silas had carried it.
I gently took it and wanted know, "Are you ready?"
Sia nodded her head and I took this as my sign to lift the lid of the box.
Her face twisted into one of disgust and I felt exactly the same.
"EW! Definitely more gross than I thought." She then reached out to take the box, "May I?"
I nodded my head and Sia took the box, turned it so that the eyeball rolled into her palm.
Her eyes fogged over again, but this time I did not interrupt her by placing my my arms on her shoulders. Only when Sia began to shake did I grew nervous and gently touched her arm.
A shocked gasped escaped her lips, but nobody could be more surprised than me when I suddenly found myself in front of a cottage in the middle of the woods.
Her face had morphed into a guilty expression and she said in a voice deep with sorrow, "I'm really sorry for everything that happened to you, child!"
My eyes widened, because how could she know about my past, but then I realized that she had probably seen everything that was done to me the moment she had touched me. That would also explain the negative emotions coursing through me all at once. It still felt like I could barely breath.
"Are you Daria the great witch?", I asked in a hoarse voice. Apparently the walk through memory lane had taken its toll on me and I tried to mentally shake myself out of it.
She nodded her head and smiled softly at me, something she had not done for quite some time I could tell.
"Nobody has called me that in years." She seemed buried in thought.
"I've no idea what my father has done to you, but something deep inside me tells me that it must have been horrible." Her pale green eye showed surprise.
"You really are different than them."
I smiled gently at her, because for the first time in my life I could take this observation as a compliment.
"I know it's not enough, but I want to apologize."
