Chapter 42
Keira’s Por
Sounds like they got a lot of help to trade with my compliance. In the end I may have no freedom at all.
“What is it do you think I need?” I ask the angel pinning me against the wall.
“You made a wish to win the knight tournament, but you didn’t wish on how it should happen.” He points. “You could be the last standing critically injured winner.” He adds.
“You’re worried that I won’t survive long enough to make wishes for you?” I snort.
“We may have been mean to you before, which was a mistake. But now you mean everything to us.” He replies in an emotional
lone.
“I mean something to you because you need me to make the wish for you.” I point. “Not that I expect more. But we are done once I make that wish for you.” I add in a firm voice.
I cannot see his reaction in the darkness, but he should be fine with it since they are getting what they want.
“You want to walk away after becoming our queen?” He questions, his grip on my hand tightening.
“Yes.” I answer
The vows of our marriage will be sealed with our blood. You cannot just walk away.” He reminds.
“We will make another blood promise to break the vows. And you will be free to choose another queen. I respond.
For a long moment, the only sound that I can hear is that of my laboured breathing. He must be taking time to consider my proposal
“Fine. We will make a blood promise to end the vows of our marriage once you make the wish.” He finally agrees. “But for that to happen I must ensure that you survive the fight against Rumulus.”
“I will.” I state firmly
“He is a healthy Lycan werewolf, Keira, His wounds will heal every time he shifts. And you do not exactly possess the strength to knock him out. The angel argues. “How exactly do you plan on beating him?”
I fall quiet, trying to figure out a wise answer.
“We can disqualify him before the fight for many reasons.” The angel offers.
That’s unfair. And everyone will know what happened once they hear rumours of our marriage. They will know that I cowered off and that my mates found a way to grant me the win. I would owe them forever for such a favour.
“I do not want such favour from you.” I firmly state and hear him huff in frustration.
He steps back but doesn’t relinquish his hold on my hand. I take a deep breath before he pulls me back towards the lighted hallway,
I finally see the disappointment in his eyes. And also notice the only physical difference between him and his brothers. His eyes are a deep shade of blue just like theirs, but he has thin, grey rings surrounding the pupils. I remember seeing similar ones in Angel Garrens eyes. Except that his have a golden colour. I wonder if Angel Febris has them and what colour they are.
Angel Conrad halts, releases my hand and pulls out a long, strange looking blade with arcane symbols engraved on it’s
surface.
My heart pounds with apprehension before he just holds out the blade for me to take.
“Use this during the fight. It will take away the advantage he has over you. He says.
Now that sounds like help. I can use a blade that takes away Rumulus’s main advantage. I can defeat him as long as his injuries. doesn’t heal immediately
He stares at me for along moment. I wonder what is wrong. Isn’t that how they would want it?
“Okay, You will have whatever you want.” He agrees. “Hide the knife. No one should know we gave it to you.” He advises before walking away
The public doesn’t need to know that I have become their queen. The entire plan can be executed in a day. All that is needed is our vows. I don’t need a fancy white gown or bride’s maids like an actual wedding. Then we will go to their dead mother’s chambers and I will make the wish. After that we will make another blood promise to break the vows and set everyone free from the fake marriage.
I will leave this kingdom as soon as it’s all done. I am sure they will find another beautiful queen so I will accept their rejection to avoid feeling the unbearable pain whenever they make love to her.
“So she agreed to marry us? Fenris questions and we both wait for the answer anxiously.
“On condition that there will be another blood promise to end the marriage after she makes the wish” Conrad answers
He sounds disheartened, like he expected her to want to marry and live with us after we mocked and rudely rejected her. We are lucky she is even considering such a deal.
“We can demand that she give us a chance to prove our love for her once we are married. Our vows will be sealed with a blood promise so she cannot just walk away.” I point. “She will of course demand for another blood promise to safely break the vows. But we must agree to it.”
“I was thinking the same thing. What matters is that she has agreed to marry us. Fenris speaks in support. “If you had told me this earlier the council would be laying plans for the wedding. The most extravagant of all. He adds with a joyous smile.
“Did you tell her she can have the dress and maids of her choice?” I ask. “The ceremony should be two times better than when we stupily married our queen. Our mate deserves the best there can be
Conrad shakes his head, still looking glumn “She doesn’t want a ceremony, wedding gowns or guests. She will only accept our vows so she can make the wish and leave. He informs.
That now sounds depressing. No one will even know that she is our queen. But a better marriage can be arranged once she learns that we do love her.
As usual, Henry interrupts our morning discussion by suddenly bursting into the room unannounced.
“Rumulus is awake and fully healed. He and your queen are having a secret meeting in her quarters. He reports.
