"Be careful. He is fragile. Do not mention her at all." Doc warns before opening the door at the top, I nod in understanding and walk through.
Instead of coming in Doc closes it with him the other side. I turn away from the door and look around, everything is the same.
Nothing is damaged. Nothing. There are a few pictures of her missing but I soon spot them on both the bedside tables.
I pick one up and smile, this was a few weeks before she left for the Alpha and Luna party. It's me, Maia, Austin and my parents. We are all standing in front of the Academy.
My parents are laughing at me while I make a weird funny face. On the other side of my father stands Maia in the right arms of Austin.
Maia is looking straight at the camera, her blue eyes glistening in the sunlight. Then there is Austin, he is starring down at Maia with the biggest smile of his face and so much love in his eyes.
"Hey." A deep rough voice startles me, I put the picture down and turn to the doorway of the bathroom where Austin stands.
My eyes gaze over him, his hair is all over the place and his face looks completely drained. His eyes are dull and almost lifeless, there are dark bags under his eyes from the lack of sleep.
He is slimmer than when I last saw him due to the no eating. He looks terrible. He looks like death itself. His eyes aren't on me, they are on the picture I was just holding.
"Austin." I state.
"She had so much fun that day." He says still looking at the picture, I glance down at it too. "We had a breakfast picnic in the woods then met you guys for lunch. She was always smiling."
"Yes she was always the one to smile." I say then turn back to Austin. He turns to me.
"The attack is any day now, are we ready?" He asks coming further into the room.
"Yes everybody has trained hard and those who are not fighting are preparing the underground for themselves." I say standing up straight.
Austin sits on the bed and glides his hand over the soft material. His eyes watch his movement carefully.
"Austin," I say and he looks at me "you are fighting, aren't you?"
He shakes his head, this really gets me angry. How could he do this?!
"Listen to me Alpha! You are the Alpha of this pack, not me! You should be the one training but I took over because your in pain! You cannot sit in here forever! There is an attack coming our way and you are fighting! This guy killed Maia! and sent you the body! Don't you want to make him pay! Don't let Maia's death be for nothing! Let if fuel you! She is here! She is. And she would want you to protect her pack! Not sit here killing yourself slowly! Fight for your mate!" I shout then leave the room angrily. Doc stands in the office smiling.
"Yeah good thanks." I reply and start to add some kicks to the long red bag. Jace watches me closely for a few seconds before speaking.
"You're almost yourself Austin." He says patting my shoulder which stops my kicks and punches. I turn towards him.
"For Maia." I state quietly then turn back and keep training. I've had less time to prepare but I'm an Alpha, I am stronger and I will protect my pack.
'Alpha! Western border! Sightings of about 30 wolves.' A guard mind links me, I let out a large growl.
Jace looks at me strangely. I start walking towards the Western borders and he follows and soon other join us.
"Western border, sightings of about 30 wolves. Let's move!" I command then we all shift and make it there in minutes.
The western side is an open area next to a cliff, I watch as my pack members are already fighting off rogues but others don't smell like rogues but don't smell like they belong to a pack.
I snarl angrily and pounce on a wolf making it let go of one of my warriors. I quickly bite it's neck and end its life, I don't look as it shifts back.
