Estelle's POV
It's 2 a.m. and the sky outside is filled with a thick blackness. And I'm crouched at the small gate at the back of the garden, waiting for the patrols to pass by. It's not that I didn't think about using the badge Lance gave me to order the guards to leave, but I'm sure they would have contacted Lance first. then I would have been caught by the guards before I got far.
Tumbling out through the low wall of the garden, I tried to tread as lightly as possible. To avoid the guards, I even used a scent-blocking spray all over my body.
This is his most frequent tavern, but the tavern closed early because of martial law. I searched around the tavern and finally smelled the sea air vaguely not far from the tavern. Thanks to my werewolf senses, it was my father's favorite cologne. Few people know about this niche cologne, but it has been the same smell on my father since I was a child.
I followed the scent all the way to the edge of the wolf pack, with the man in charge of the patrol not far from me. Father's scent stretched all the way to the territory beyond the wolves. Damn it, why did Father leave the wolves during martial law? I was debating whether to continue following this scent.
I lay down in the bushes and waited for this patrol of werewolves to pass.
"What's that noise?" A werewolf suddenly looked at me here, and I held my breath because I was nervous.
"Don't move, it's a warning!" He had his gun up. There was a rustling sound in my ears, as if the plants of the bush were rubbing together.
"Bang!" A gunshot exploded in my ears and my heart was about to jump out of my mouth. But I didn't feel the pain.
The werewolf approached me slowly, then bent down to pick up something from a bush near me. He said to his companion.
"It's just a rabbit."
It was while waiting for them to leave that I regained my breath. My limbs were cold. This was the order after martial law, but anyone who came near the wolf pack's territory would be considered a suspicious person. Originally, I had already disobeyed Alpha's order by leaving Lance's house, and if I ran out and was discovered, it was necessary for the patrol to kill me.
But my father had been missing for two days, and I couldn't give up looking for him when the clues were right in front of me. I transformed into a wolf so that I could run a little faster. I could see my silvery-white fur emitting a soft light in the moonlight, and the wind carried the scent of the ocean. I followed this scent to an eerie town.
The fog of the night covered the town, I did not feel any living thing here. The clean streets are lined with low houses, each with its door closed and without a single light in the window. This is too weird, but I still hardened my head and pursued the smell of my father.
Suddenly, I felt a dark shadow swing by behind me. I was sure there was something else here, but I still couldn't sense any scent. With the instinctive reaction of a beast, I caught the black shadow. I lunged at the dark shadow and bit into the other's fatal weakness with my sharp teeth.
In the light of the moon, I saw the face of the dark figure. A pale face and red eyes.
Vampires? No wonder I couldn't feel the scent of living things, these cold-blooded monsters had no vital signs of living things at all.
The vampire I bit screamed silently, and in a moment, his companions immediately surrounded me. fxxk, am I breaking into a vampire's lair?
I let out a warning low growl to them from my throat and they gathered towards me as if they were unconscious. I lunged and tore into one of the vampires, but there were too many of them. My fur was being yanked to death by them, and in the melee I felt a stabbing pain in my hind legs. Then the scene in front of me slowly blurred and I lost consciousness.
The warm yellow light woke me up and I opened my eyes to see a man in the haze. His platinum hair glowed the color of gold in the candlelight, and his dark red eyes were as intoxicating as a rich red wine. Damn vampires!
I moved my body unconsciously, sensing that I was imprisoned in place by something. The sound of iron chains rang out as I moved, and I followed the chains to see myself with a black collar around my neck.
The man's long fingers hooked the collar around my neck, and the black collar set off his complexion even paler than before. Before? I remembered! I had seen this man before, he had appeared at Eternal Life, the nightclub Ethan had taken me to. Why would he show up at Eclipse Wolf Pack?
The man pulled me closer with his collar "You've come to the wrong place, coyote."
I pressed my body down and bared my teeth at him.
