Lance's POV

It looked like Estelle had given Ethan a simple bandage, and his bandage still had faint traces of blood on it. I felt guilty, I felt guilty from the moment I woke up and saw what was right in front of me, and Estelle's blue eyes were full of worry and fear. The look in her eyes made my heart ache, and that was the last thing I wanted to see.

"Ah..." Ethan woke up from his stupor, the movement of him getting up tugging at his wound.

I helped him out of bed and handed him a glass of water. ethan's injuries were more extensive than his entire body, and I could guess how gruesome the scene was.

"Don't look at me like that." Ethan would have rolled his eyes at me if his face hadn't been hurt.

"I'm sorry."

"You didn't do this, you were unconscious."

"Me or my wolf, does it make a difference?"

"You have restrained yourself enough."

"I didn't restrain myself enough."

"Come on, you're the most restrained person I've ever met. It's been how many years since you last went berserk."

"When my father died."

"That's right, almost 5 or 6 years now. This time it was just by chance."

"Don't say such things you don't believe yourself, we all know what it's because of."

"Isn't it because vampires are stressing you out so much?"

"You know it's because of Estelle. from the time she came to my side, Balder tried to break through the blockade I gave him."

"So what, Estelle's a brave girl. She doesn't care about that."

"I care, and I can't hurt her."

"Well I know what you're going to say next. Of course I can protect her, but what she needs is his MATE."

"Even a MATE who would kill her?"

"You should let her decide for herself."

"I know I should keep her informed, but she's not even an adult yet!"

"Forget it, it's your decision. I can only try to support you."

"Thanks."

"That's Beta's job."

"This is my friend's thank you."

Ethan looked at me in amazement, "You've really been changed by her. My goose bumps are rising."

"Then you can pretend I didn't say anything."

"No way, I'm going to use it as a ringtone for my phone."

During the most confusing period of my adolescence, my parents died, and Ethan was always there for me, and not just because he was Beta's heir. When I went berserk and no one could stop me, Ethan risked his life to stop me from doing something I would regret. I'm grateful to him, my best friend, my brother.

So I wasn't much upset when he went to the exchange without permission at the time, he wanted to know what kind of person my MATE was. I have to say, Estelle stunned us. A girl without wolf, but brave and strong. I don't know if it was because of the attraction between mates or what, I could easily give up my restraint in front of her.

It made my life a little more beautiful, but it also made me fearful. My family's curse, my parents. Their deaths always come up in my dreams. I don't want Estelle to end up like that, so I can't be near her anymore. I won't let her carry the sad title of Luna of the Clifford family; she should be free.

Estelle's POV

I opened my eyes and there was a pair of bright green eyes staring at me in front of me. I subconsciously swung my fist at the person in front of me.

"Wow, is your wake up call that bad?" Ethan dodged my fist, but the wound on his body hadn't healed yet. The movement made his face scrunch up.

"Who told you to get so close to me? I thought someone was going to sneak up on me."

"You look so much cuter asleep than you do now." Ethan lay down on the bed like a playboy.

"What were you doing?" I pulled the covers over to block my chest.

Ethan's fingers combed through his chestnut hair, gathering the few strands that had fallen in front of his forehead to the top of his head. He crawled up next to me and said in his coaxing little girl voice.

"Of course it's sleep."
