Estelle's POV

Mia's shock didn't last long, and I was ready to be scolded or beaten by her. But Mia was only silent for a moment then asked me.

"So I guess your mother is a vampire, what about Nathan?"

"Aren't you afraid of me?" I choked on her response.

"A little." Mia cocked her head and thought for a second "But I trust you not to hurt me."

"You don't suspect me?"

"Since Alpha didn't lock you up, it proves that you have nothing to do with the murderer. I know the Alpha doesn't favor anyone, and if you were related to the murderer, he would definitely lock you up."

"I don't know what to say, thank you for believing in me." I gave her a grateful hug.

"I believe you because I know what kind of person you are." She came close to my face "But this is the first time I've seen a vampire, do your eyes turn red?"

"Will. By the way, to answer your earlier question. Yes, my mother is a vampire. Nathan hasn't transformed yet though, I just hope he stays away from vampires."

"Wow, that's cool."

"I don't think there's anything cool about it, vampires are annoying as hell."

"Have you seen any other vampires?"

I thought of Noah's arrogant face. "Seen them, but they're not quite normal."

"Don't worry, you look normal. And I think you're even prettier than before."

I believe this is a side effect of the vampire's power, my skin because it is now without a blemish and whiter than before. And the color of my hair is slowly lightening and I don't even know what it will end up looking like.

"By the way, what did you just say. what happened to Ethan's mate who passed away?"

"It's really just a rumor that Ethan's MATE died in an accident when they were first awakened. So now he's got so many girlfriends and none of them can be in love for more than three months."

"When he first awakened? About 15 or 16 years old?"

"I don't know about that, you can ask the Alpha about it."

"Oh, no. I'm definitely not going to ask." Although after getting to know Ethan, he was very easy-going with his wolf pack. But I think there's a very dark side to his personality.

I haven't been able to see Ethan lately, he's been sent out to investigate the vampire incident. "Happy Birthday!" Mia interrupted my imagination. She pulled out a beautifully wrapped box from somewhere, and she slipped it into my hand.

I lit up my phone screen and the date on it was indeed my birthday. If not for Mia's reminder, I would have forgotten that today is my 18th birthday.

"Thanks." I hugged her.

Growing up, I didn't expect anyone to remember my birthday. I used to envy the children who were pampered by their parents, whose birthdays were usually surrounded by cakes and gifts. I had to work on my birthday to pay the family's electricity bill. Then I often forgot my birthday because there was nothing to celebrate that day.

But that reminds me, Nathan hasn't had many birthdays either. When we were very young, we would share a blueberry pie that a neighbor gave us on our birthday. But when he grew up, he didn't care to spend his birthday with me. Now that he's been off the drug for a few months, I should buy him a present.

Before class, our counselor called my name in a stern tone, "Estelle, come see me in the office later." Some of the girls who couldn't stand me started whispering.

"What did you do?" Mia turned to me and asked.

"I have absolutely no idea."

Now that my hand was on top of the office door handle, I suddenly started to get nervous. I hadn't fought with anyone in the last few days, I shouldn't have made any mistakes.

But I opened the door and saw that it was indeed Lance, sitting in our teacher's office chair, the office was empty, and the teachers had gone to class.

"Happy birthday." He actually remembered my birthday, and I pursed my own lips to keep from looking too obviously happy.
