Lance's POV

I followed Estelle's orange blossom scent all the way to the edge of Autumn's wolf pack. Panic now overshadowed anger; I knew this place was often attacked by vampires. And I'd seen a few vampire corpses at Luna Lake. There had been fighting here, and with my wolf growling loudly in my head, I needed to steady myself.

I contacted Ethan as I approached the area. he had been gathering intel here at Autumn wolf pack, however he didn't get anything useful from here either. ethan followed my coordinates to me and we entered a spooky wooded area.

"It smells like blood." I said to Ethan.

"Your sense of smell is sharper than mine, I don't smell anything."

I followed the smell and saw two men lying in the woods, with a few wandering vampires around them.

"It's strange why vampires don't attack them." Ethan asked me. Indeed, lower-ranking vampires are like mindless beasts that will suck any creature with blood dry.

"They were ordered." That's the only possibility.

We walked into the group of vampires and they lunged at us after spotting Ethan and me. Ethan and I killed them without much effort. Then we saw the two werewolves lying on the ground.

"This is really..." Ethan looked at the people on the ground, it was Alpha and Beta of Autumn Wolf Pack. "They are unconscious. The injuries are not serious, they should have been mentally attacked."

"Whose mental attacks can defeat an Alpha?"

Ethan and I looked at each other and we both knew the answer, a pure blood vampire. My head hurt, if Estelle met this vampire. The situation for our entire wolf pack would change, war was just around the corner.

"What about them?" Ethan pointed to the two men on the floor, "If another vampire attacks, they'll probably die in their coma."

I looked at the two men on the ground and fell into thought, if they knew about Estelle, I would be more than happy to get them up. However, I am not unaware of the animosity of Alpha Anthony towards me. All we're wasting by fighting here is my time looking for Estelle.

"Of course, it doesn't matter to us if they die. I never liked him anyway."

"Get them up, I have things to ask them."

"Okay." Ethan took out the adrenaline he carried on his person for werewolves and gave Anthony and his a shot of it each.

Anthony woke up immediately after taking a deep breath. His dazed eyes suddenly became alert when he saw me. His muscles tensed in a fighting stance.

"Hey, hey, relax. We're the ones who saved you." Ethan's tone was disgruntled.

Anthony's eyes flicked from us to the remains of the vampire next to us. His Beta also came out of his coma, and Anthony finally dropped his hostility for the moment.

"I saved you just to ask you one question, where is Estelle, have you seen her?"

"She was with us before." Anthony's tone was still a little fuzzy.

"What do you mean 'before'?!" I wanted to pick at his shoulders to get him to wake up, and reason made me hold back.

"We were attacked by a vampire and she suddenly yelled out and my spirit suffered an attack. Then I don't remember."

"Damn what are you talking about? Who gave you that mental attack?"

"I don't know! We were surrounded by dozens of vampires."

"Do you remember?" Ethan asked the tall Beta, who also just shook his head.

Suddenly I heard a lot of stray footsteps and vampire whispers again. What a way to give people a moment of clarity.

"There's another vampire coming." I looked at Ethan.

"It's time for us to go." Ethan said to me.

Anthony raised his hand to stop us from moving, "Wait, you guys can go to my wolf pack and hide from them. Consider me thanking you guys for saving my life."

I couldn't get too far away from here, where Estelle's scent had disappeared, and I needed to catch the last bit of clues. "Okay." I promised Anthony, Ethan's expression not looking too good.

The ride to the wolves was an awkward silence, and the hatred between us didn't abate in an instant, but my impression of Anthony changed quite a bit. He wasn't one of those stubborn country boys, and his Beta showed little displeasure with his orders.

I have never been in another pack's territory, it is my family's teaching that we do not mix with the weak. eclipse wolves have not participated in any human diplomacy except for trade, and it is enough that all wolves fear us.

But Anthony's territory didn't look as chaotic as I thought it would, everything seemed casual and peaceful. Their residents would greet Anthony and they were as familiar as neighbors. There are also quite a few humans living among the wolves. Our family would never allow humans into our wolf pack, they consider them weak.

Ethan and I were taken by them to a simple building.

"I'm sorry I can't receive you with the same rituals I received the Alpha, my residents shouldn't be able to take that. So this is my house, feel free to rest yourselves."

"I have a right to know who I've been attacked by, right? And trust me, I won't tell your secret." Anthony also presumed Estelle's identity and played the "friendship" game with her again.

What was hard for me to understand was that Estelle just believed him. She said, "Well, I awakened the ability. You fainted because of my mental attack, but I was just trying to get the lowly vampire to get out of the way."

"So, you're a vampire and werewolf hybrid?" Anthony looked at me as he said this, and I'm sure he smelled my mark on Estelle as soon as she approached us. I don't think he had ever heard of that Alpha's mate being a vampire.

"I am, but I didn't do anything related to these attacks." Estelle explained to him.

Not wanting them to continue the exchange, I put my arm around Estelle's shoulders and said to her, "What happened after you drove the vampires away, where did you run off to."

"I ......" Estelle looked over at Anthony and hesitated to say anything. Damn did she care that much about Anthony's opinion?

"You can go home and explain it all to me, along with the punishment for running amok." My hand rests on the marked spot on the back of her neck, and Estelle's face flushes red from my movements.

It was a highly suggestive gesture, and Anthony frowned. Good, hopefully he'd see who Estelle really belonged to. "Thank you for your hospitality." I told him, "I'm taking my partner home."

"Wait." Anthony walked up to Estelle "I should thank you for saving me and William." then he looked at me "If there is any news of a killer vampire, I would like you to tell me. It's a threat to our entire pack."

I wrangled Estelle, who was still trying to speak, over to me, and Ethan got in the way behind us as he said to Anthony, "We'll think about it."

"What are you doing?" Estelle struggled in my arms on the way back.

I had to stop and teach her a lesson, I pinched her cheek "Can't you see the way he's looking at you? I don't allow people to look at you like that."

"What look?" Seeing Estelle's confused look, how could she be so slow to receive feelings.

"He wants you to be his mate."

"What?! How is that possible?"

"If he is ready to do anything to you, I will kill him and annex his territory."

"Are you crazy? He's not the one who doesn't like me." Estelle's tone was very sincere, she really thought so.

Something stirred in my body, "I really should educate you." I said to Estelle.
