As days went by, the memory of Reynold’s attack gradually faded, becoming just a terrible moment buried deep in my mind. I no longer dwelled on what happened and the nightmares had stopped

Romulus had disappeared, which should have put me at ease, but knew that his temporary absence meant he was plotting something, and that made me uneasy. And that Nicole, who now frequently appeared near the company building, wouldn’t let me forget that Romulus was still a threat.

Making the situation more tense, Isabella decided to make her presence known in my life as well, which was becoming irritating. The spoiled princess now made scenes wherever she found me, and according to what Melissa told me, she had been pursuing Henry, even though he had banned her from entering the company. She would wait for him outside.

But neither Isabella nor Nicole scared me; only Romulus haunted me. Still, I tried to live my life as normally as possible.

In the middle of the afternoon, I had a huge craving for meat pies. I called Manu and invited her to get coffee at the café near the office, and she was more than happy with the suggestion.

We sat down and I ordered four meat pies, leaving Manu staring at me with wide eyes. The pies there weren’t small, but I really wanted four different flavors, so I ordered four. We were laughing, talking about Erica and Emilia’s excitement about organizing my bachelorette party happening next Saturday, but our fun was interrupted by an intruder.

“Bachelorette party? How tacky!” Isabella stopped beside our table. “Don’t waste your time with that. Get it through your head that you won’t marry Henry. He’s mine, always has been, not even that slut Nicole managed to take him from me.”

“Speaking of me, you walking skeleton?” Nicole suddenly appeared behind Isabella.

“Oh, just what I needed! Crawled out of your grave, geriatric caretaker?” Isabella turned to face Nicole. This would be interesting

to watch.

“Listen here, little girl, watch your tongue or you might wake up without one!” Nicole threatened Isabella, who let out a humorless laugh.

“You think too highly of yourself, corpse!” Isabella confronted Nicole as if it wasn’t the first time; clearly, there was history

there.

“Look here, Dumb–bella, I don’t think I am, I know I am. I was Henry’s girlfriend; you were just his little whore.” Nicole laughed at Isabella.

“At least I didn’t trade him for his own father! And you know what, all these years he had lots of fun with my body while you were taking care of old folks somewhere.” Isabella was clearly desperate.

“You were just a distraction, Isa–fool! Just like this other one here. MY Henry was just passing time with you two. Now that I’m back, he’ll soon be eating right out of my hand.” Nicole opened her palm and pointed to it with her index finger.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about, Denture Mary. Henry is mine! Neither you nor this fake pregnant woman will steal him from me.” Isabella started raising her voice, drawing attention from anyone who wasn’t already watching the scene.

“We agree on one thing, Isa–fool, this one doesn’t have the slightest chance with Henry.” Nicole laughed, and the malice in her was so intense that her face seemed to become deformed re a tortured demon’s, but as if understanding something, her smile vanished. “Wait, did you say pregnant? This wretch is pregnant?”

“Wow, you’re slow, aren’t you, Diaper–Changing Mary?” Isabella mocked. “Yeah, this gold digger decided to pull the oldest trick in the book, got pregnant by Henry and now they’re engaged. But I’m already taking care of making sure that doesn’t happen.”

I felt a chill – the last thing I needed was for Romulus to find out I’m pregnant. That could make him even more determined and cause harm to me and my baby. The encounter between those two had been entertaining until Isabella’s big mouth brought up my baby. I needed to get out of there. I signaled to Michael, who came over and stood firmly between them.

“This is a public place, you caveman,” Isabella complained..

“You don’t want to test what I can do to you, miss.” For the first time, I found Michael intimidating.

“Great! Do that and I’ll get even more irritated than I already am. Now step away.” Michael took a step toward them and called over the diner waitress, who quickly wrapped up my sandwich and took the payment.
