After a morning filled with emotions and spending a lot of time with my father, it was time to get ready for the wedding. Right after lunch, the makeup artist and hairdresser arrived. Hebe had converted one of the many rooms in the house into a space where I could prepare for my big day along with the girls.
When I was ready, I looked in the mirror and was amazed. I was completely enchanted by my dress. It was light, made of embroidered tulle almost like an intricate and very fine lace, fitted to mid–thigh and then opened in a mermaid style, with a light skirt with little volume. The neckline was V–shaped, with thi straps and a bare back that descended to the middle of my spine. It was beautiful and delicate, fully lined with nude fabric that gave the dress m
more of an off–white than white appearance.
My hair was styled in a messy low bun, with loose curls falling to the side, adorned with white orchids. On my feet, I wore white sandals with translucent crystals decorating the toe strap and the one that crossed the top of my foot. Everything was delicate and simple. But I insisted on carrying a bouquet of red roses, like the ones Henry always sent me.
I was standing in front of the mirror when my mother and Joaquin entered the room with tears in their eyes. At that moment, I felt a unique emotion, seeing them both there, loving parents proud of who I had become. My mother gave me a long hug, very emotional, with one last piece of advice before I stopped being the girl she raised to become the wife who would build her own home.
“Don’t be a stubborn child!” That was my mother’s advice. I started laughing because of all the things a mother could say to a daughter about to get married, she decided to advise me to get rid of a small flaw I had kept throughout my life. I admit, sometimes I was like a stubborn child, but that I would only admit to myself.
After my mother let go, Joaquin approached with another gift that moved me to tears. He placed a gold chain around my neck with a heart–shaped locket pendant. When I opened the pendant, inside was engraved the date and the phrase “God doesn’t bring two people together without a purpose.” This phrase said it all, it was a reminder that he wasn’t in my life just by chance. We hugged, and I felt not only love but infinite gratitude for having this family with me.
I looked to the side and my mother was wiping away tears. After a makeup touch–up, we took some photos there, and my mother gave me another kiss and left.
“Now, I’ll take you to your groom,” Joaquin said, holding me by the shoulders. “You look stunning!”
“Thank you, dad!” I replied with immense affection for this man smiling in front of me. And he became emotional once again. Don’t cry…” I placed my hand on his face.

“When your child calls you mom for the first time, you’ll understand how wonderful it is to be recognized by your child, you’ll feel in your heart what I’m feeling today, this joy, mixed with pride and filled with love, ever since you called me dad for the first time this morning.” He kissed my hands.
I was moved once again. Until this morning, I hadn’t understood how wonderful it is to be a loved and cherished daughter, wanted and anticipated. This man had given me a treasure, and I would take very good care of this bond that had grown stronger
between us.
We heard a knock on the door, and a ceremony staff member informed us it was time. Joaquin offered me his arm, his chest puffed with pride, and we walked toward the beach where everyone was already waiting for the bride’s entrance.
We left the house, crossed the lawn that was perfectly arranged for the reception, and reached the beach. Along the entire stretch of sand where I would walk was a white walkway, adorned on the sides with baby’s breath in low vases and also in columns at the height of the chair backs. The chairs were white, with white seats. It was so simple, yet so beautiful that it ked like an enchanted place.
The altar was set up with the ocean as a backdrop, so we would watch the sunset during the ceremony. There was a table with a white tablecloth, with two tall vases full of baby’s breath, and behind the table, a pergola also covered with those simple little flowers that made everything so beautiful.
Henry was waiting for me at the altar, handsome as always, with his hair tousled by the wind. He wore a very light beige suit and pants, with a white shirt and a red rose in his lapel. Red roses meant so much between us. He had a perfect smile on his face, and

our eyes connected the moment I stepped onto the aisle entrance, nd the musical group beside the altar struck the “Love’s Greeting” by Edward Elgar, which I had chosen for my entrance.
From there to the altar, I saw no one else; it was just Henry and me being led to him by my father. When we met, he greeted Joaquin, who kissed my forehead and handed my hand to my groom, who took it in his and placed a kiss on its back. We turned to the altar, and there, behind the priest and pastor, were the sun and sea kissing, treating us to a breathtaking spectacle.
When the priest asked for the rings to give his blessing, I looked at Henry, who smiled as if he had a big secret. He squeezed my hand, and the musical group began playing “From This Moment ” by Shania Twain.
