Samantha’s POV

When I got pregnant, I never thought nine months would pass so quickly. I was already in my fortieth week of pregnancy, my delivery was scheduled to happen in fifteen days, and my baby’s room wasn’t even ready yet. It was Sunday morning, and I made Henry help me.

I was sitting in the nursing chair reading the crib assembly instructions to him, with Cinnamon lying at my feet.

“My goddess, why do you always make me assemble furniture when we could hire someone who knows how to do this?” Henry complained for the hundredth time.

“Because this is your son’s crib, and you don’t want him falling out because a screw wasn’t properly tightened,” I said, rubbing my enormous belly.

“And you think someone who does this for a living is more likely to leave a loose screw than me, who’s never assembled a crib in my life?” He looked at me as if I’d grown two extra heads.

“Yes! It’s your son’s crib, and you don’t want him to fall, so you’ll be more careful than anyone else in the world.”

“My goddess, I don’t want our baby to fall, but I don’t understand your logic.”

“Henry, stop complaining and put this crib together. I don’t want my baby sleeping on the floor because his father was lazy about assembling the crib.”

“You’re being more tyrannical than Melissa.” Henry huffed and went back to assembling the crib.

“Continuing. The maximum distance between the longitudinal ends… owww…” I felt awful pain and looked down, feeling wetness running between my legs.

“Did you pee again?” Henry looked at me and laughed, remembering the day at the hospital and how I’d been peeing a lot and always feeling the urge because of the pregnancy.

“You idiot!” I grumbled. “Owww! My water broke.”

“Sam, focus on the crib now, you can buy another bag later.” Henry said, sitting on the floor tightening a screw.

“Henry, are you dense or what? My water broke! Your son is coming!” I said, losing my patience, and he turned his head toward me, losing all color.

“What did you say?” Henry seemed to have gone into shock.

“For God’s sake, Henry, this is no time to faint. Call Alvaro!” I said louder to get his attention.

He seemed to snap out of his trance and panicked, pacing back and forth. I lost my patience, grabbed my phone that was beside me, and called Alvaro who, luckily, was at home and quickly arrived

“I’m here!” Alvaro entered the room and looked at Henry with a huge smile. “Your son is coming!”

“But is it safe for him to be born now?” Henry was distressed, and only then did I realize his fear.

“Yes, Henry. This is normal. Your baby is fully formed and healthy Go get the bag she must have prepared and let’s go to the hospital. I’ve already notified my team.” Alvaro started giving instructions, and Henry seemed to have come back to his senses.

We went to the hospital where everything was ready and waiting for me. A nurse helped me change clothes and lie down on the bed. Henry was alert. Alvaro examined me, checked my dilation, and smiled at me.

“Well, Sam, everything indicates we’ll have a natural birth. That’s great. Henry, let the family know while we wait for Sam to dilate – this could take hours. While you make the calls, I want you to walk with her down the hallway, it’ll help.” Alvaro left the room saying he’d be back soon.

through me and I screamed, doubling over. Alvaro came running down the hallway and helped Henry take me back to bed.

“Samantha, your baby is crowning!” Alvaro said excitedly. “Today’s a celebration day, baby, come on out, we’re eager to meet you.”

I felt another contraction and Alvaro gave instructions on what I should do. Henry held my hand and helped me with my breathing. When the baby was born, Alvaro was singing “song to my baby, and it was during the chorus that he placed my little one on my belly.

“I can already hear your signals…” Alvaro hummined and looked at Henry. “Dad, come cut the umbilical cord.” Alvaro called to Henry, who was emotional.

“If you faint while holding scissors near me, I’ll kill you!” I warned Henry, and Alvero let out a hearty laugh.

Henry cut the cord, our son was examined and placed in my arms, nurse came and interrupted my bliss.

“Mommy, I need to take your baby for a little while, it won’t be long before he’s back in your arms.” She spoke very gently, but I was reluctant to hand over my baby, not wanting to be separated from him.

I couldn’t complain – despite the painful contractions, my delivery was quick and smooth, everything was very natural and wonderful. After taking a shower and resting a bit, my son was brought back to stay with me in the room. Alvaro said he would discharge me in two days if everything was fine, and I was happy with that.

“Look here, you two, there’s a crowd in my waiting room wanting to see you, but I’ll only authorize them to come in gradually.” Alvaro said while holding my little miracle, already completely smitten – it would be a competition between him and Joaquin to see who would be the most doting grandfather. 1

“Alvaro, please ask Hebe and Ed to come in first,” I said and saw Henry’s eyes turn to me.

“Are you sure, Nightingale?” He asked.

“I always have been!” I smiled at him.

Soon we heard a gentle knock on the door, which was slowly opened by emotional Hebe, who had teary eyes and a silly smile on

her face.

“I’m finally an aunt!” Hebe hugged Henry and came towards me. “So, shall we end the mystery now? Boy or girl?”

“Just like grandma said, she’s never wrong!” Henry remembered when we gave the news to my grandmother. “It’s a big boy!”

Hebe approached emotionally, and Edward was right behind her, eyes sparkling, holding balloons and a brown teddy bear.

“Come, godmother, come, godfather, come meet your godson Hugo!” I said and stretched out my arm so Hebe could take my son in her arms.

“What did you say, Sam?” She asked me confused while cradling my baby.

“I said this is Hugo, your nephew and godson. Unless you don’t want to…” I said calmly, smiling at them.

“He’s our godson? Are you serious that I’m going to be my nephews godmother?” Hebe’s emotion was evident, tears running from her eyes and her smile seemed permanently fixed on her lips

“Yes, and he couldn’t have better godparents.” I was sure of that.

“Did you tell her?” Her eyes turned to Henry and she suddenly asked him.

“I had nothing to do with this, Hebe. She decided and only told me she had already chosen the godparents, and I accepted her wish without even knowing who it was.” Henry explained that even he didn’t know. “But I’m very happy about it because it was always my desire!”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“When we were teenagers, we agreed we’d be godparents to each other’s first child.” Hebe smiled. “When Enzo was born, I
