Flavian’s POV
After my father's visit, I spent the rest of the week tense, having no idea what he was planning. I even called my brother, but he knew nothing, though he promised to try to find out. On Saturday, I went to help Manu with her move.
"Little one, is this everything?" I asked, putting the last box of Manu's belongings in the car.
"Yes, big guy, I rented a furnished apartment, so I don't have much to take to your house."
"Our house." I pulled her by the waist and corrected her. "Now it's our house. Actually, it always was."
Manu and I spent Saturday at her apartment organizing the move, and by the end of the night, my little one had taken over my apartment and my entire life. I was too happy about that.
But I was still worried about my father's visit earlier in the week. After that visit, he had been quiet. I hadn't talked to Manu about any of this; she was already dealing with her own crazy mother, and I didn't want her to worry about my family - there was no reason to.
We were cuddling on the couch after putting all her things in order, enjoying each other's company with kisses and caresses. Everything was going great until my cell phone started ringing. I got up to get it from the sideboard where it was charging and saw an unknown but persistent number flashing on the screen. It must have been something work-related. I answered already in a bad mood, thinking if it was work, I'd probably have to leave.
"Detective Moreno," I answered with a huff, and saw my little one giggle, as if mocking me.
"Hi, my love! It's been so long." The blood froze in my veins. There it was, my father's move.
"What do you want?" My bad mood only got worse.
"You, always!" My laugh was cutting, and I didn't say anything; I couldn't let my little one worry about something that didn't even exist anymore. "I want to see you, my love. I'm here in your new city. Come see me, or I'll show up at your door and make that little nymphet run away."
"Have you lost your mind?" I was seething with anger and didn't even notice I was already shouting.
"I think you're the one who lost your mind, and it's been a long time." I heard the provocative voice laugh on the other end of the line. "Seriously, Flavian, a little nymphet? Please, darling, I even understand the beautiful women you had fun with in my absence, but this girl?"
"What do you want?" I said, seeing my little one on the couch already looking at me with those clever eyes. I made a gesture to her and left the room, heading to the bedroom; I couldn't let her hear this.
"I want to talk to you in person. Simple as that, Flavian!" She spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"Keep wanting. I have nothing to say to you." I replied, furious about having my peace disturbed by this creature.
"Oh, darling, it's not like that. You have a lot to talk to me about." She insisted with a calmness that made me even more irritated.
