"Be careful child." My wet nurse said in a whisper, scared that he would hear somehow. I ran for my life into the woods with my child who was no more than a few minutes old.

Grace started whining in my arms and I rocked her back and forth trying to calm her down before anyone heard. I kissed her forehead and started humming trying to sooth her but she grew more restless by the minute. I sighed and stood up and started walking trying to get her to calm down. We were on the border of an unknown territory and I didn't want to be caught by the warriors of the pack. Grace started to calm down but was still whining as her small stomach grumbled.

"I know baby girl. I promises I will find us some food soon." I whispered to her as I began to walk. I knew she was whining because we haven't eaten in almost 4 days. I could last longer but Grace was a growing child and she needed food. With no money or clean clothes I had to steal whatever I could, weather it was a loaf of bread and a half eaten cupcake. I always made sure that when we found food that Grace would get the most or even all of it, sacrificing myself so she wouldn't have to deal without.

As the sun started to rise the forest stirred to life. I unwrapped Grace from all her blankets but one and put her in my sling I made over a year ago. I shifted in my plain grey wolf and ran with my giggling daughter. I ran for about an hour before stopping at a river. I shifted back which was a painful process and got dressed. I walked over to the river with Grace in my hands and began to bath her. She splashed around in the water making me smile to see her happy even in our situation. Once I dried her, and dressed her I carried her on my hip as we walked through the forest.

Midday came along and I had no clue where we were or how big this pack was. Grace was asleep at the moment and I was glad because up ahead I could see a house. A large house. I looked down to make sure Grace was sleeping before I approached with caution.

I knew it was a pack house. A pack house meant people, and people meant food. I tried to get closer but froze when the doors opened and people rushed out.

"Hurry up!" A young boy yelled tugging a man behind him.

"Joshua wait up I need to speak to Jason." I watched the little boy huff and cross his arms causing the man to laugh.

"Be a good boy and sit in the car with your brother and your mother." I watched the little boy skipped off and saw the pack being loaded into black vans.

"Jason, are you sure you don't want to come." I let my hearing take over trying to work out if anyone was staying behind.

"Take another step and I will rip your throat out." I stopped moving and looked down and Grace trying to calm her with my eyes. While I was trying to calm Grace I didn't see the wolf behind me until he sunk his teeth into my neck causing my wolf to whimper in pain. He let me go and I could feel the blood staining my grey fur.

"Now you will shift!" The alpha demanded in his Alpha tone, but I still shook my head causing me to become so dizzy that I started to sway. I watched as he looked down at me smugly and motioned for one of his guys to come closer. I saw another man walk towards me his gaze never leaving the pouch Grace was in. I knew than what he wanted and I knew he was never going to get it.

I growled at the man making him stop and look at his Alpha for guidance.

"What are you doing, grab the child and kill the she-wolf." The Alpha commanded and watched as the man bowed down and made his way to me. Fear washed over me causing me to back away from him. I could see the border and I knew I only had one shot. I was weak, tried and bleeding but that didn't stop me. I took off running and I could hear the Alpha yelling for me not to get away. I moment I stepped over the border I knew I was safe. My heart was beating hysterically as I glanced at the Alpha who stopped where to border met. I didn't waste another second before I took off into the new land, before falling into a dark world of sleep.
