Apprehended By My Mate novel Chapter 23

"Some of us are going for a run and wanted to know if you wanted to join." A run. It has been a long time since I have been asked on a run with the pack. I look at Grace wondering who can look after her. Even though I cannot contact my wolf I know she wants to run.

"I would love to, but no one can look after Grace." Ivy's eyes light up and I can see an idea float around her head.

"You can get Conner to look after her. I am sure he won't mind." The other women around us agree and I look at Grace. Do I trust Conner enough to leave Grace with him? I shake my head not liking that idea.

"Clare, you can trust Conner." Another women says who I think is called Anna.

"Yeah Conner would never hurt her or you. You are his mate after all." I frown at how bitter she sounded at the end. After about a minute of the women convincing me I agree. While the other women get ready Ivy and I walk to Alpha Felix's office where Conner is. I go to knock on the door but Ivy juts barges in tagging me along with her. The moment I entre the office I bow my head.

"Ladies what a lovely surprise. What can we do for you?" The Alpha speaks and Ivy nudges me pushing me to talk. I look up at Conner under my lashes to see my gazing at me intently.

"I wanted to see if Conner could mind Grace while I go for a run." I whispered in a small and tiny voice scared that he will say no or ask for something in return.

"So?" I take an instinctive step back and look around to see the three other women already in their beautiful wolf form. I nod my head and step behind a trees. I take off my cloths and tie them to my ankle and I start the slow and painful process of shifting. It is normally not painful the shift but because I cannot contact my wolf the process for me is painful. Once I have shifted I walk out to the other women who all over tower my skinny sick wolf. I see a white wolf with black paws frown and I notice that it is Ivy. She tilts her head into the woods and we all follow after her. I am surprised that I am able to keep up with the state of my wolf and I think I have shocked the other females as well. There was even a stage where I was leading. I guess a year of running can do that to you.

We finally slowed down stopping at a lake where we all shifted. The shift back was just as painful but I suffered in silence. I came back to see all the women sitting on a panic blanket with food all around them. I saw the warriors standing around at a safe distance alert of any threats.

"That took you a while." Anna states and I nod my head. Anna is beautiful. At the age of 22 her long black hair cut at her shoulders framing her green eyes. I am surprised that she hasn't yet found her mate or mated with someone else. Lucy is 20 with long blonde hair and green eyes while her twin Karen is the complete opposite with short brown hair and dark brown eyes.
