Apprehended By My Mate novel Chapter 30

I look up at Clare to see the morning sunlight hitting her face making her look beautiful. I see her sigh as I stare at her beautiful features. I watch as her eyes flutter open and I freeze when she looks straight at me. I feel like a little kid who was caught in the cookie jar taking something they shouldn't have. I watch Clare waiting for her to freak out that she is in my bed but instead she shows me a beautiful smile causing me to smile in return.

"Morning," I smile at her hoping that this isn't a dream and when I wake up I will be alone.

"Morning." Her voice is husky from sleep as she blinks trying to wake up. We both stare at each other neither of us minding, enjoying the company and the silence. Clare is the first the break eye contact and I follow her gaze to see her looking at Grace who is curled into me. She runs a finger across her face and I see un-shed tears in her eyes. I know I need to talk to Clare about Grace but I don't want to ruin the moment.

"Thankyou Conner." She whispers looking back at me but I don't know what she is thanking me for. I just nod my head and look back at Grace who is starting to wake up. Grace's dark brown eyes open and first land on my face as she snuggles into my arms. She reaches up to touch my face with her small hand and she giggles when she comes across my day's worth of stubble. Grace is touching my face while I watch for Clare's reaction. Grace's fingers draw across my lips and I bite them softly causing another giggle out of the smiling little girl.

"Momma." She giggles at me and I shake my head at her.

"No I am Conner, your Mom I there." I point to Clare who is smiling and Grace turns over and all but jumps on her mom.

"Momma." She squeals causing a soft chuckle from Clare.

"Yeah baby girl." Clare kisses Grace and I can feel the love Grace has for her mom through the bond we now share. I sit up in the bed and Clare follows resting up against the headboard with Grace in her lap.

"Clare, I need to tell you something." I decide to say after a while.

"O-ok." I can tell she is nervous because she decided to put Grace in-between us so she can fidget with her hands.

"Thankyou." She whisper in my ear causing me to shiver as she moves away. I smile when I see her blushing at what she just did.

"Conner I need you in my office." I sigh at the sound of Felix's voice coming through the mind link.

"Clare I have to go and see Felix, however I am sure if you go downstairs someone can get you and Grace breakfast." I go to lean over and give Clare a kiss but I think better of it and climb out of bed. After getting dressed I make my way into Conner's office.

"Conner glad you could come. How is Grace?" I look down at his desk to see it filled with maps and papers.
