Apprehended By My Mate novel Chapter 37

I found out that I enjoy classical music compared to Conner who enjoys old rock. I found that I hate mint chocolate but love cherry ripes. Each day I share something new with Conner and in-return he also shares something new about himself. Like last night I found out that Conner once dyed his hair hot pink as a dare but it didn't work out so his cousin decided to bleach his hair blonde.

I am surprised this morning when I wake up to the smell pancakes and bacon. I slowly open my eyes to see Conner standing there with a tray of food in his hands and a smile of a little boy.

"I thought I would make you breakfast for once. You are always up early cooking me food so I thought I would treat you to breakfast in bed." He places the tray on my lap and I smile at the fresh flowers he also placed on the tray along with the food.

"Thankyou, but I won't be able to eat this all, join me." I say shyly as Conner jumps into bed with me. Grace has been spending time with Conner's parents and she is staying the night at their place to give us some time together.

"You seem to be eating more." Conner mentioned as I ate at a very slow pace. My stomach was still getting used to the idea of having food but I found myself eating more each passing week.

"Yes but it still makes me sick." I finish up as the feeling of nausea settles in a tell-tale sign that I am more than full.

"Today Clare I want to take you out. Grace is staying with my parents, so we are going out on our first date." I look at Conner who is now standing up taking the tray off my lap.

"I am not sure." I haven't been on a date since 16 and I am not sure I am ready to be seen in public.

"Fine then it will just be two friends spending some quality time together." I fidget with my hands at the thought of going out in public. Derek never allowed me to go out in public as he was embarrassed to show me off to people.

"I don't want you to be embarrassed by having to be seen with me." I speak my real fears and I watch as Conner sighs.

"Clare you have to believe that he was wrong. He wanted to control you. He only said those things so he could have power over you Clare. All those thing he said are false Clare. You are not fat or ugly you are my beautiful mate." He lets go of my face when he notices that I wasn't breathing.

"So Clare, would you do the honours in accompanying me around town today." He stand up and bows holding out his hand. I find my mood lifting and I giggle at how silly he is being.

"Conner you don't need to do that." I shake my head and my heart skips a beat.

"Clare when are you going to believe me that I want to do things with you. That I want to go out and have dinner, that I want to go to fairs with you and Grace. I want to be able to make you breakfast in bed and rub your feet when they are sore. I want to do all these things for you Clare. When will you believe that I don't expect anything in-return. I am not Derek." He growls out the last part and I jump off the bed so I am facing him. The last part he said had me mad and upset. He think I don't know that.
