I pat Grace's head pulling apart my sandwich so she could eat. Grace at my whole sandwich leaving me with the crust which I savoured by eating slowly hoping it would last. I haven't eaten in such a long time that my stomach protested against the food I have consumed.
No one is saying anything but all the ladies in the kitchen watch probably wondering how such a small child could eat so much. I didn't realise how hungry Grace was until she finished her 4th slice of bread. Once Grace was full I watched as her eyes started to drop as she fell into a deep sleep against my shoulder. We were all watching Grace sleep before the questions started.
"So what is your name?" When lady asked. While another asked why I was stealing food. I didn't say a word as I sat there listening to what they said. After a while I got up halting all conversation. They didn't ask me what I was doing as I walked outside with Grace in my arms. Grace started to stir in her sleep and I knew she wanted my wolf. My wolf always calmed Grace down but when I tried to draw her up I couldn't. I shake my head before heading back inside with a trail of curious women following me.
We were sitting in the lounge room and I hated all these people around me. After a while they stopped asking questions and let me sit in silence. All the women seemed to stop talking when the Alpha and another man walked into the room. The first thing they did was look at me. I watched Ivy as Alpha Felix walked around and sat next to Ivy pulling her onto his lap.
"Has she said anything yet?" He looks at me with a smile and his smile widens when he sees Grace in my arms asleep.
"No. But that little girl can eat. It was if she hadn't eaten in days." Ivy states making me draw in a large deep breath. What she said was true Grace hasn't eaten in 4 days and I haven't eaten in a week.
I look at my little girl, my angel and hope one day I can give her the life that she deserves. I brush some curls off her face and kiss her forehead as she snuggles closer to me trying to seek out my wolf. I feel tears run down my face and I bite my lip to stop the sobs from escaping. I wish I could give my princess so much more than I have given her. I gave her life and kept her safe but that isn't enough anymore. She needs a family that can give her what I cannot, but I am selfish and cannot leave her. I kiss her again wiping my tears and I look around.
Everyone is watching me with sad expressions. "Are you ok?" Ivy ask and I nod my head. We are silent before someone clears there throat.
I stumble backwards shaking my head whispering no like a broken ballad. Conner has stopped moving towards me but that doesn't me from putting as much space between us. I watch as hurt and confusion crosses his face but it is soon replaced by anger. He raised his fist and slammed it on the table making me jump and Grace to start crying tears and all. I was trying to comfort Grace into calming down but she didn't calm down one bit.
"You don't want me?" Conner roared making my bones shake. This is why I stay quiet. I don't say anything and he growls loudly.
"Answer me." He spits is a hateful tone.
"Conner calm down. You are scaring the living shit out of her." I tired to make myself seem as small as possibly. My head was bowed, my shoulders slumped, as I looked at the floor showing my submission hoping it would be enough. I heard Conner back down but I still stayed in the submissive position.
