Chapter 40 marks a crucial moment in Gary Windsor’s Internet novel, Werewolf Academy's Alpha. This chapter blends tension, emotion, and plot progression to deliver a memorable reading experience — one that keeps readers eagerly turning the page.
"Alpha." I hear a familiar voice, Doc John. "She is showing no sign of waking, we cannot help her anymore than we have. She has to do the rest by herself. You should go home Alpha and get some rest, you haven't left since she was brought in. We will watch over her."
I hear a low growl and footsteps leading away from me, but not leaving the room. I feel a kiss on my forehead making my heart skip a beat.
Beep.
I hear what must be a heart monitor next to me. Austin's hand grips mine tighter and I feel him kiss my lips again.
Beep.
My heart jumps once again and I feel my eyes flicker the slightest bit. The blackness around my starts fading and the turning into light.
"Come on baby." I hear Austin whisper, his warm breath against my mark making me moan. Wait, I actually made a sound!
My eyes flutter open very slowly taking in the surroundings, the light doesn't burn my eyes at all but I realise it's because they are dimmed.
"I'm here Maia." A calming masculine voice says making my heart beat faster as I'm closer to seeing him since being taken from him and tortured.
"A-Austin." I say my voice cracking as I turn my head to look at his cute face with a his smile and dimples.
"I'm here," he says kissing my forehead "I'll always be right here."
I lean up and wrap my arms around Austin, I'm finally in his arms once more. He is here with me at last and I am with him. I let the few salty tears leave my eyes and trail down my cheeks.
My mind stirs making me feel a wave of nausea, I bring my hand to my head trying to stop it. Austin stands up abruptly and gives Doc a scared look.
"I'm fine." I say sitting up, Austin is quick to help me after I wince because of the pain swirling inside me. Doc slowly turns the lights up so we can finally see properly.
Austin is holding my hand tightly as if I'll be taken again any second but I love it, it makes me feel safe. I want to feel protected by Austin.
"Maia," Doc sad the other side of the bed making me look from my intwined hand "you have suffered many injuries from...recent events, you can go home today but I need to check you over just to confirm. You have stitches in your side but they will be gone by tonight since you have alpha's blood in you. Apart from that you may get severe headaches because of blood loss, just take some pain killers and lay flat."
"Okay," I say "thanks you so much Doc."
"Hey guys." I say as they get pulled of me by their mates, I give Christian and Nate a hug but hey know when to stop.
"How are you feeling?" Liz asks leaning against Christian and I feel my heart ache slightly, I wanted be in Austin's arms right now.
"Alright I just want to go home and chill," I say "with Austin hopefully."
We all make small talk before a familiar gentleman walks through the front doors and I smile widely at him.
Running to him I hug him tightly, he puts his arms around my shoulder and squeezes me.
"Where you been Ty?" I ask pulling out of our reunion hug. His smile falters and I can't read his thoughts but his emotions show me he's conflicted.
"Uh close by," He says "I have important work to do but I promise to talk to you later." He says smiling at me one last time before walking out.
I make my ways back to my chatty friends and sit down painfully on the metal chairs. I try not to show my pain but as Luna the whole pack can probably feel that I'm not 100 per cent.
